Self Is Still Biologically Wired, We Can't Really Get Rid Of Our Emotions Or Biological Instincts Even With Englightment States

5 posts in this topic

I read about sri nisargandatta

http://www.theself.com/sri_nisargadatta.cfm

Apparently (not sure but I'm assuming) From reading his biography it took him 3 years to get his enlightenment state? I always thought it would take 10 or 20 years+.

Although these views of existence like concepts can be understood somewhat with or without practice , Yet we'll forget them and continue on with the noise/illusions of the fake life we have in front of us.

Biologically we aren't really robots to live without our emotions it seems like a bit ridiculous to do so.

After reading/listening to what the meditation/awareness can be they seem more like a wanna be then an actual it, since we're just biological creatures we can't really go outside that box. I feel like it's just a stage of the brain being more stable by growing more of our hippocampus/cortex/cognitive areas.

Don't get me wrong though, The idea of awareness is much better than buying the illusion that we all go by our biological instinct. Although it can't really be mastered since we live in the system. Unless if we try to unwire or somehow have the ability to unwire and rewire out current system. That is the only time where it may feel like we're getting somewhere even though it's not the perfect answer. It's much better than nothing. And humans are known to gain some skill in various fields they put time in perhaps this is one of them.

An enlightenment state seems like it would be just another reprogrammed arrange of thoughts with a bigger working memory and a more self stable healthy brain. (Hey i'd personally go for this since it does sound like it has a lot of healthy thoughts both physically and mentally than your typical average human)

Seems like meditation will always help growing the brain overtime so don't stress for those of you who are aiming for enlightenment, Just meditate often/regularly as you maintain yourself and improve on your brain health state both physically/mentally. I don't even aim for enlightenment personally i just want to pick up good habits with small increments overtime. Since i feel neutral about everything It seems better then wasting energy of worrying if I'll reach that state or not. If i do i do, If i don't it's fine either way.

Remember be skeptic and critically analyze anything anyone says, perhaps I've gotten the wrong idea, I'm not claiming monopoly of truth over any of this. These are just my thoughts when i heard some of Leo's enlightenment videos and saw some other different sources, I tried to match them/marry them as some proof but all i got was this insight that came into my mind overtime. (thanks to the other scientific sources and the ted presentation)

Edit Extra:

Leo mentioned religious people can be enlightened too, which puzzled me back then since i thought we had to get rid of all our previous thoughts/dogma, Apparently cherry picking anything is still an option since life is just neutral. Which also led me to the above insight.

Nisargadatta never claimed he never experienced any emotions anymore after his enlightenment. But he experienced emotions as something that appeared from the Absolute, it is not he that is having the emotion, the emotion just appears and vanishes again.

You use "the idea of awareness", is your awareness really only an idea? And, in the experience of your whole life, can you only come to the conclusion that YOU are just the body?

You are approaching all this from the perspective of a separate self still, that is one of the functions of the mind. Enquire if you are truly only a function of the mind, and where this you can be found. Because you probably experiencing the sense of 'you' every second of your waking hours, find out where this you resides in your experience.

@vizual That is not really what i'm getting at, It's more of a we can't really change our overall human in the box aspect, We may be more immune to things over training over them. But it doesn't seem too perfect compared to the hype i've heard. Maybe i need to experience to truly judge perhaps it's too early. But it does sound like another illusion cherry pick.

Who said anything about changing our human experience ever? An enlightened being doesn't become superman, he is still a mortal. A "human" is just an expression of the Absolute, an enlightened being knows that his humanity is just a temporary expression.

It is quite a human change to be able to find mastery in anything, But it's still neutral. Obviously we will be mortal. Life is a temporary expression regardless of being enlightened although it may seem like it's from a higher-tier since we or some of us may have placed it's value.
