Why my girlfriend "hate asmr" , any idea ?

19 posts in this topic

I know it sounds weird, I would even say that asmr is so much a "girl thing".

I cannot convince her, even "nature noise" doesn't work, she don't like it, and I can't figure out why. ( child trauma ? )

I appreciate asmr on my side, especially "happy trigger asmr" if you know him ( one of the only one I listen to, he has a good vibe, and good rythm, basic, authentic, enough for me when I need to sleep with some weird noises )

She aswell hate "mouth sounds", and when I say "hate" I m litteral. She can even hate on me if I m eating too loudly. ( it really got my nerve when she told me about it, I m the kind of geek who doesn't fucking care how I eat, like a pig is ok for me hahaha )

I m looking for something to heal her, at this point for me it's non sense, you cannot "hate" on "simple sounds", it makes no sense.

thanks for your insights <3

Heal her from what? Don't try to force something on somebody if they don't like it :)

@remember She enjoy music exactly the same way as me, it's really ASMR that she don't like.

I found that ASMR is related to "close intimacy" maybe it penetrate your psyche and provocate some brain responses she doesn't appreciate ( don't know ) but very interested in the topic.

besides music isn't a problem we listen the same volume

yeh this one is good too, thanks ;p

@GodDesireOnlyLove Most often, people don't want help unless they're asking you for it.

Can you tell me more about this?

I absolutely hate ASMR and habits like eating with your mouth open to make disgusting sounds. Drives me crazy to the point that I either leave or tell the other person to eat like a normal human being.

But if it could help me grow in terms of intimacy, I wouldnt mind trying asmr

@Hansu apparently brain related and no solution so far. Maybe psychedelic could help giving another perspectives to the brain level. But not sure long term. All asmr ? Does it happen with others natural sounds ?

@GodDesireOnlyLove

All ASMR, especially ones with sounds coming from mouth.

Sounds of nature are not annoying to me, in fact its the exact opposite.

@Hansu Did you try to do it yourself with your own mic/settings, if a friend have any maybe give it a self trial,

maybe doing it yourself and knowing it's your own sound making ? what about having someone whispering in your ears ? like a gf ? does it gives you chill or "weird feeling" ? seriously asking. Same if someone play low drumming with objects close to your ear, how do you feel about it ?

misophonia as a music producer, seams totaly non sense to my perspective, but I accept it, I even have one of those fat yeti micro for asmr ( and vocal recording )

@intotheblack  We listen a lot of music, from all kinds of genre, electronic music mostly.

I don't see specific, we listen all genre, lol, that's why it's weird, drums are passive asmr, I don't understand where is the beginning and the end.

Its funny you mention that, because in my previous post I originally included "I mostly hate sounds others make, I dont mind sounds I do myself" but I erased that part because I felt it was not adding any value to it. I guess I wouldn't mind the sounds even when recorder if I was doing the sounds myself.

Usually my reaction apart from becoming agitated is that I start to think "that sounds is unnecessary". I'll try to see if listening to ASMR with the idea that it is "not unnecessary" changes my reaction to it

@Hansu Yes I was thinking on the metaphysical perspective of it,

but really I believe I can trust your direct experience on this.

Give it a try without expectation maybe, just chill out, don't 'expect' something, just exploring your own reaction to it ( if you wish ofc, not pushing you to do the trial, but I m not lying, I m curious )

for me it has been healing in many moments, but sure, not everyone will find value in it.

I find it very relaxing, sometimes it gives me a real feeling not "placebo feeling", especially now it could help people in quarantine, for me it act sometimes like some sort of a "natural drug" that fuel my body with a smooth mild energy, like a "natural codeïne".

Good when I have a hard time finding sleep to certain hours, I would prefer if ASMR can help besides taking drugs or any "pills". ( Now I m more into audiobook though )

There is aswell people with asmr mic, just walking around in nature ( someone do it in Iceland, walking on sand beach, maybe more your thing, just an idea )

big thanks for your answer, funny yes hahaha, but I m happy anyway that you did, and didn't expect that I wanted to know ;p
will give the mic to my gf and see how she react to her own making ( whe she come back :( )

Quite often those who are sensitive to sound and have misophonia or the equivalent appreciate asmr.

I'm a highly sensitive person and ASMR provides relief from all the thoughtless sound pollution. There is a greater asking for ASMR in my vortex (AH teachings).

It might be that there is just less of an 'asking' for her.

@Artaemis  How did you enter your vortex?

I understand the logic of Abraham's teachings, but I don't know how to get into receiving mode and just feel good first before I get manifesitations.
