Intuition

6 posts in this topic

I had an intuitive dream. In my dream I was a stand-up comic and I made everyone laugh. I felt very energized and blissful when I woke up. My intuition wants me to move to New York and pursue stand up comedy. This is completely left field from my current interests of Psychology,Computer Science and personal development. Also I am not really a performer, and I am not that funny. I am more serious about life, a textbook over thinker and logical. I dont know ever since I had the dream, I have been watching different comedy sets and learning naturally and my vision has become more spontaneous.

Go give it a shot! You don't have to move. I am sure there is a place to start right by you. Not to mention you have a large amount of ways to practice or try from just going to a club. Check out some stuff on youtube about getting started.

@Chumbimba Create a routine so refined you don't even need to think, they won't be able to help but laugh at some level just out of respect for your your effort. You have all the time in the world to come up with something, because there are no expectations if you've never gone and nobody has heard of you! Self-deprecation is a great category to start because A) It shows you don't take yourself too seriously B) If you are already bashing yourself what more can they do to you?

Also mention that it's your first time and they'll be a lot gentler with you and cheer you on. That will help get rid of the fear almost right away. Besides even in an environment like a bar or club, most people are pretty chill and won't be dicks about. Most of them would never have the guts to get on stage and they know that.

What's the worst that could happen if it goes bad anyways? You'll never see those people in your life again.

@Chumbimba That's the whole point of getting out of your comfort zone. Try out that toast masters I was telling you about. I think even that might be a big step in the right direction. But watch some of the best comics out there and they will tell you they felt the same, when they started.

What I find from watching comedians. I like the ones that have fun themselves. Like they come on stage and they already kind of smirking at the whole situation. And then they are good with tension, like playing with it.
