Smile Tennis ??

I love this exercise!!! One thing I would add is to create a genuine smile - as if you are smiling to a good friend you care about (rather than it appearing as a forced smile or constipation).

I have had so many brief, yet meaningful, moments with smiling with people. All sorts of people from around the world. Many people that I woldn’t have anything in common with. A smile can be a connection. It can transcend all identities and opinions. And it’s amazing how many flavors of connections can be formed through a shared smile.  I’ve had people pause and smile back as if they were touched. . . . One time, I was running down a country road and was passing by a farmer in the field. I know nothing about farming. It’s another world. And our worldviews are likely completely different. Yet that doesn’t matter because a genuine smile transcends that. I gave him a smile and he paused and smiled back. There was a brief moment of connection that we experienced together. It’s brief, yet if we pay attention, we can fully experience it. Like the gap between thoughts,. . .

@SoonHei Man tried that at the gym with some dude.

He asked me to go out with him.

Will never do it again man. You know I am into hippie and spiritual chicks.

These spiritual stuff become dangerous. First my wrist and now questioning my sexual orientation lol.

I’ve practiced my “smile serve” this morning. I’m discovering there are a variety of serves.

@Serotoninluv Have you practiced the second serve? I used that when the first one doesn't work. It's usually more safe and is easier to recieve lol

I’ve been working on my social distancing long serve. One thing I’ve found helpful is to supplement the smile serve with a touch of hand wave. Yet don’t overdo the wave or the ball will go out of bounds.

This afternoon I practiced Self-Love with many people on the sidewalk. Just looking them into their eyes with a smile and feeling joy because they experience this very moment with me. A mother with her kids on a lavender field, one dog owner and some people I was standing with at the traffic light. I felt so connected and grateful for their being.

Hey guys. I did it during my run today. It definitely feels good when people smile back. However, to smile doesnt come natural to me. I feel like when i spot someone in the distance, i have to build up the courage to smile. Why is that ? Its so simple, why do i feel shy about it ?

@lostmedstudent Maybe fear that they won't smile back or worse, fear they will say something shitty. Like, what are you smiling at?

@Serotoninluv yes! The hand wave is really good. A Lovely hello-bye signal. I do this on my runs usually running on sidewalk of main road and almost.everyone driving in their car waves back. :)

Not many on foot do. Shyness kicks in more i guess that way. But when they are in the car and I'm running, waves upon waves :)

@Anna1 ❤️?❤️

@lostmedstudent the more you do it. The eaiser it becomes. You maybe shy because it's something new/out of your comfort zone.

@SoonHei Yea, the running and car combo is great.

I cycle a lot in rural farm country. The bicycle and tractor combo is amazing. It’s not just a polite courtesy smile / wave. There is something deeper. It’s like two worlds crossing and we share humanness. It’s a moment transcendent to cyclist or farmer. There have been moments in which nothing mattered but that one shared moment. It’s hard to describe how beautiful it can be when it is spontaneous, genuine and free.

It can be a reflection of myself and how I interact with the world. Simple things like how genuine I am, various essences of joy, humor, love, kindness - expressed through a window that lasts a moment, yet also an eternity.
