Trump is American Putin

Trump appears to be using the same tactics as Putin to maintain his grip on power. Trump doesn't seem to have any values or care anything other than himself; you can see this from his speeches and how he acts on social media, anyone that criticizes him prevents him from doing exactly what he wants or goes against his wishes gets directly attacked by him. When he was denied the absurd offer of buying Greenland from Denmark, he personally attacked the Dennish prime minister calling them stupid.

In Russia, Vladimir Putin's closest advisor Vladislav Surkov comes from the Avante grade art world and has helped Putin maintain his grip on power for the past 20 years. Those that have studied his career have claimed he has turned Russian politics into a piece of modern theatre by incorporating ideas from conceptual art into the heart of politics. His aim is to undermine peoples perception of the world so they never really know what is happening.  Surkov got Putin to sponsor all kinds of groups from Neo-nazi skinheads to libertarian human rights organisations, he even backed groups that opposed Putin and the key thing was he let people know that this is what he was doing. People were left not knowing what was real or fake. One of the bravest of Russian journalist wrote " its a strategy of power, that leaves any opposition constantly confused, a ceaseless shapeshifter that is unstoppable because it's undefinable". This is what Surkov is believed to have done in the 2014 conflict with Ukraine where the Crimea was annexed.

In 2014 Surkov wrote a short story called 'non linear war', it is a war where you never really know what the enemy is up to, or even who they are. The point of the war is not to win but, to create a constant state of destabilised perception, in order to manage and control.

Trump seems to be using these same tactics in American politics. He constantly chops and changes his positions and who he supports and changing the narrative of the world. US troops were pulled out of Afghanistan without any inclination of whether it was a victory or a defeat and then trouble arises again and we are told we are making a presence in the region.

In the present, Trump is appealing to peoples worst fears and grievances during the lockdown, going against common sense and endorsing protest groups that criticize the lockdown, despite this lockdown being absolutely necessary, he will back, support and criticise people like a game of chess to boost his own image, regardless of the stakes. Trump won't accept any responsibility for the fallout and negative consequences and when he's bad ideas have negative repercussions, he will no doubt find a way to get the blame landed on someone else.

I personally believe Trump is acting. What his intentions are idk, but it's obvious the people who react to his shenanigans are being played. Remain equanimous and aware ?

The difference is Putin is a competent dictator. Trump is an incompetent reality TV dictator. If Trump was competent, the US would be in much worse shap.

If a dictator is the only thing that can save people from the forces controlling most of the world and that leader or dictator has to take certain measures of course that's gonna be percieved as a bad thing, but in reality he has been saving Russian asses for a long time now. Russia is one of the few countries not infiltrated by the deep state and that's a great thing. Is he perfect? No by no means, extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary measures.

Trump is a moron, Putin is a grandmaster strategist.

Also, Putin is not as bad as Trump because Russia is in a very different stage of development. Russia is so corrupt that it requires an authoritarian to keep things steady. Putin is problematic from America's POV but honestly Putin is doing what Russia needs to regain its power on the world stage and defend Russians from exploitation by Americans and their allies.

Putin is a strongman because that's what is required to rule Russia at this point.

Be careful judging Putin when you have no idea how hard it is to rule in Russia. Russia ain't the US or Northern Europe.

Serious business leaders are not con-artists. They're actually good at creating value and results and getting shit done. They run successful companies which build real things. Russia has evolved enormously and is in its best shape ever.

You take for granted how terribly underdeveloped Russia was 100 years ago, or even 30 years ago.

The living conditions for Russians have improved significantly since the early 1990s under Putin's leadership. Russia is now once again becoming a player on the world stage. You have to see this from Russia's POV, not yours.

Putin is looking out for Russia's survival. Which is exactly what most Russians want. They want more world power and wealth. They don't want to be bullied by Americans.

Trump is not a good business man at all, I'm not even sure he's a good con man. Someone like Jordan belfort (wolf of Wall Street) is a great con man, trump could've never done what he did. What he is good at is getting the right ruthless people around him, people like Roger Stone, who I think is actually going to prison soon not sure.

Don't forget, he inherited and burned through $400 million.
