Chronotype

Hey guys. I really want to find my own chronotype, to know, what is my best sleeping pattern.

I tried various times a day to go to sleep and wake up, but that takes too much time and I am not able to determine if I am tired because of last night shitty day, wrong time of eating supper, etc. I also tried using some apps from Appstore, but you have to pay for most of them and it's not convenient. 

I am looking for some kind of research, that I can perform on myself, to find that out, once for always.

Have any of you do something like that with yourself?
