Kind Of Lost - Needs A Push

3 posts in this topic

Hey all!

I am getting kinda lost in thoughts and everything. The latest 2 week's I haven't really done anything and I am just wondering what I should do. Need to get back on my path.

So I am soon 17 years old, I dropped out of school earlier this year (January) and since I have been doing self-development. I deleted every single video game and limited the time I was watching TV. I've read about 50 books so far this year on stuff I've been interested in. But ever since everyone at school went on vacation, it felt like myself also got school vacation. I started playing some games again, watched more movies than I should. I've screwed up the daily rhythm I had, I'm not being healthy and I don't know what to continue doing, even if I have an idea I kinda need a push and I don't really have anyone around me into this stuff.

I have around 700 courses on subjects I wanna get into. All of these are at least 2 hours long, but some are definitely longer and requires some exercises. Then I have a list of like 70 books to read + Leo's list, on top of that I also have a lot of youtube clips to watch (self development related). I also wanna view some "dating courses" (not counted into the other courses), and it's just so goddamn much. It doesn't get better that I am not doing anything useful the latest days as well.

I have gotten into contact with a investor who's agreed to become my mentor, as well as I've become a member of a canoeing club in the area, which is pretty much all I've gotten forward for me now the latest weeks.

What helps me with things similar to this is understanding the difference between anchoring and diffusion and how they balance and inter-relate.

Being too anchored into a single thing can feel like a cage, but being too diffused or spread thin across very many things can make you feel like an overwhelmed leaf in the wind and both extremes carry different emotional effects that will impact your motivation and focus, AND it will have an impact on what you feel like you might be missing out on, by choosing one side over another.

The trick is balancing those two extremes and creating a dynamic middle-ground so you can shift between hyper-focusing on a single or couple different things, so you can get some strong development in them, to then shifting towards a more expansive or bird's eye view focus for perspective and organization of direction.

It's like our eyes. We don't just have tunnel vision or just have peripheral vision, we have both and a whole field in between that we can shift and move between as the situation warrants.

@Salaam You are completely right!

The hard thing is figuring out how to do it however :)
