Shadow Work Vs. Traumatic Meltdown!

6 posts in this topic

I tend to meditate on a regular basis. I've incorporated shamanic breathing, mindfulness alongside meditation. It's certainly helpful to minimize stress levels and even increases focus and energy level to certain extent.

Yet, they're not potent enough to promote any spiritual and/or paranormal experiences. That's why I've been practicing clairvoyance, telepathy and other psychic related techniques in order to raise my emotional and sensual levels.

I've started shamanic breathing and shadow-work journaling on March 12, 20, and successfully doing as an everyday routine. traumatic and childhood episodes are becoming so intrusive these days. Not sabotaging 'YET'. Yet I would like to know reasons or someone else's experience doing shadow work/shamanic stuff..

Things I Encounter Very Frequently..

i. reminisce random occasions held in childhood days.

ii. Vivid encounters of embarrassing/shameful events held in my past. Such as. classmates made fun of my ignorances, nagged for boasting my ego.

iii. Hearing random songs, music that I happened to listen in my childhood

iv. Persistent anger and jealously.

v. Feeling regretful for my past mistakes (settling for low)

So, is that really mean I'm recovering from traumatic conditioning?. Is there any chance of relapse of such traumatic episodes after purging off it completely?

Also, please share any of your shadow work experiences and aftereffects of it. Also, let me know any other techniques in order to increase efficiencies or speed up the process. Thanks in advance..

The most helpful thing I've found for shadow work is Teal Swan's book, Shadows Before Dawn. Allow yourself to feel into your emotions as they come up. Be with it. Understand the pain. Ask the pain questions. Allow to black to take over your consciousness and come into the light. Then love it. Forgive yourself and anyone involved. Be patient with yourself. Much love and your healing journey my friend.

Glory to God. Blessings to All.

hi innerchild. the whole point of shadow work is to surface your deepest emotions and bring them to awareness. so all the stories and emotions that are bubbling up are a sign of doing things correctly. nothing to worry about. combining shamanic breathing with journaling and shadow work is very powerful. just let the stories and emotions pass through awareness like clouds pass through the sky. watch them surfacing and then going away because they will go away and you will become stronger. i get the sense that all thats missing here is detachment that is the ability to not be taken by the content of the thoughts. ultimately with shadow work you want to be able to view and talk about your history without feeling bad about it. you want to be comfortable with all parts of yourself by acknowledging yourself to the deepest levels. you want to be familiar with who you are.

maybe also try watching leos videos on letting go and going meta. theyre very helpful.

I had a shadow work experience...? for a lack of a better word. Things in my past that had been significant both good or bad, came bubbling up and I saw them all in the light of Good. Journaling was key for me, but the impulse to write things down lead to more being revealed as I was writing, it never felt like work at all. You mentioned music, I found that music helped with the journaling of and on, it seemed to go hand in hand with the flow state I was in and on occasion old favorite songs aided in bringing up feelings of my "past". Pay attention to how you feel, go in the direction of feeling good, yet don't resist or label in thought. Intuition and inspiration are your best friends here.

The more we see our trauma or blockages as trauma and blockages the more we hold ourselves apart from seeing the actuality of them. The more we think about them as being good, and try to convince ourselves of that the more something wants to resist and argue that.

Thought can jump in and hold itself from moving forward. As the thoughts of past memories start to bubble up from going in the direction of feeling/being (meditation breathwork, etc), the key is to see it, feel the desire to work through it, then let it go. There is no one who needs to work through their shit, nothing that needs to be done. Thought says and claims this statement "there's nothing that needs to be done" as dogma. That's resistance. Thought says and claims this statement "I must work through these blockages" as dogma. Both of those thoughts/beliefs are resistant. Don't fall for any one of them.

I love this topic.

I've been on the shadow work path for a year now, and still going. I've healed a nice amount of my fragments but I still need more.

I've only used the Julien Blanc method so far, in Transformation Mastery. It's a very basic and "awareness based" method. It's not so much about love, but more about observing the trauma and the insecurities.

I think I'll check the book by Teal. I need to step up my game with SW, because I'm still too basic leveled and I lack the Love component of shadow work. Awareness is still not enough, I need to learn how to love my shadows.

Do you recommend more "Shadows before dawn" or "Completion process"?

I've seen that the second one should be more about advanced shadow work. Am I right?

Inquire in the now.

@innerchild

Sounds like you’re ’bringing it up’ with practices, but not letting it ‘out’. Time to start getting your time’s worth out of them imo. Notice thinking of past or future, and bring attention back to what you’re seeing & hearing, and the feeling of your breath, and all areas of the body which are touching a chair, the floor, etc.

Use the practices you mentioned for the body to release, and the focus, energy & sensual levels will increase even more. Your psychic practices will be kicked up a notch. Emotional intelligence is also an inevitable outcome. It is love, goodness, & understanding which is waiting to flush. Don’t minimize, release. Let go. Life’s not fair and people suck sometimes. Doesn’t mean you owe anybody anything though. Doesn’t mean you can’t see the distinction between who we really are, and behaviors & actions. Let it out and let it go. Our only option in all matters is just getting back up and going forward. That’s the whole schtick really.

To speed up the process, express yourself. A journal, song writing, poetry, simply writing on a pad of paper about how you feel right now, or talking to someone about it. Almost any expressing about how you feel about it will benefit you greatly.  All of this is helpful and ‘works’ imo, for anyone desiring to self discover & move forward with the life they want to live. Truly, a single thought about what you do want can be the most powerful event of your life, and yet can seem so, ordinary, going unnoticed even.
