Meditation and Waves

3 posts in this topic

I had this idea, to arrange my day around 3 or 4 sessions of meditation; each an hour.

During these sessions, I will be listening to specific waves and resonant frequencies with the intention to "mimic" and match them with my whole being.

I will be listening to 100% pure Alpha, Beta, Theta and Delta waves. Each one at a specific time, for a specific purpose. First thing in the morning I will be listening to Alpha waves. The idea is that it will get my system running and bring me fully into the present moment.

In the afternoon I will be listening to Beta waves for extra focus and productivity. And in the night I will be listening to Theta and Delta waves with the intention to visualize, download, inquire, heal, let go and distance myself from reality - eventually detaching completely.

I will be also, occasionally doing a few spontaneous, shorter sessions, during which I aim to experiment with other frequencies as well. To really discover which ones resonate the most with me and see how they affect me. My state of consciousness, my behaviour and the overall quality of my experience.

If you're not familiar with the waves I mentioned, here's some info and examples;

Alpha waves are dominant during quietly flowing thoughts, and in some meditative states. Alpha is ‘the power of now’, being here, in the present. Alpha is the resting state for the brain. Alpha waves aid overall mental coordination, calmness, alertness, mind/body integration and learning.

Beta waves dominate our normal waking state of consciousness when attention is directed towards cognitive tasks and the outside world. Beta is a ‘fast’ activity, present when we are alert, attentive, engaged in problem solving, judgment, decision making, or focused mental activity.

Theta waves occur most often in sleep but are also dominant in deep meditation. Theta is our gateway to learning, memory, and intuition. In theta, our senses are withdrawn from the external world and focused on signals originating from within. It is that twilight state which we normally only experience fleetingly as we wake or drift off to sleep. In theta we are in a dream; vivid imagery, intuition and information beyond our normal conscious awareness. It’s where we hold our ‘stuff’, our fears, troubled history, and nightmares

Delta waves are slow and loud (low frequency and deeply penetrating, like a drum beat). They are generated in deepest meditation and dreamless sleep. Delta waves suspend external awareness and are the source of empathy. Healing and regeneration are stimulated in this state, and that is why deep restorative sleep is so essential to the healing process.

I'm wondering how will this affect my baseline. Feeling quite excited.

@Inliytened1 Thanks. I think it's inevitable. I can see how this could become something I'll always do.

I came to a conclusion that I usually operate on Theta waves. Which is not that ideal when it comes to accomplishing stuff in a fast and efficient manner. I imagine everything will be well organized and run much smoother now.
