Attached to seeing with my eyes

11 posts in this topic

Hi there :)

I think i am attached to seeing as my main sense like really very attached and i think that is normal for people however i see it interfering with conscious work. When i try to become aware of being aware i just focus on being aware of being aware of seeing and then i thought i was being aware of being aware but i guess that's wrong as i am just being aware of being aware of seeing and that i thought is being conscious. Hope this makes sense.

Rupert Spira says by being aware of being aware you just pull your awareness back as being aware of ones self no attention is required. I tried that but to me i am less aware than just being aware of being aware of objects. For me it's not the same as being aware of an object. So is it okay of doing the meditation like that?

Also, i want to be aware of the feeling of existing or finding the i am but i can't find that feeling other than, "i am seeing so i am aware." again this attachment of seeing is getting in the way.

PLEASE any tips or help is much appreciated??

Im having a hard time following your thought process. Maybe clarify it more?

If you close your eyes, do you stop being aware?

When you take psychedelics it becomes more obvious that the visual field is a distraction.

What is seeing your thoughts and images? Clearly not your eyes right? Since they are can be closed and you still see them. Close your eyes and inquire into that.

Dont look at me! Look inside!

@universe I do this practice during daily life to while walking, working and everything i do while my eyes are open. Then it's difficuly not knowing the difference of being conscious or is seeing causing the feeling of being conscious.

Yes there is consciousness when my eyes close why i notices i am being attached more to seeing.

My questions really is how does someone focus on being conscious, is it just a feeling? Could i just focus on being aware of being ware of seeing, hearing and feeling is that the same as being aware of being aware??

It’s the uninspected thought at play. “Object” is a thought. “Object” is not a “thing” perceived. “Thing” is a thought. “Seeing” is not actual, sans a thought.

‘Inspect’. Find the ‘edge’, the separation, between seeing, and the knowing of seeing.

Find the separation between knowing, and awareness.

Find the separation between knowing, and “the known”.

Woww i see what your getting at, there is none. So seeing and knowing of seeing is the same. Is being aware of being aware of something  the same to be aware of being aware?? I know there is no separation but can there become a problem when you do this as a practice?

Thanks

@Joker_Theory  “Seeing” is a thought. Was there “seeing” in last night’s dream, or was there only dream? Was the dream ‘made of anything’ ?

What is a problem, without separation?

@Nahm was only the dream an the dream was made of consciousness i guess. Problem is a thought when you think it seperate so without thought it's nothing, i guess :)
