Being a reader

15 posts in this topic

@okulele Thanks! I completely agree that re-reading is the most essential part of reading. One should read a book at least 5 times over, or until it really sticks. And also the most important part, to question every part of the way. Never giving away your authority.

And of course, radical openmindedness!

Because at the end of the day. You don't know how or why or what the fuck your own hand is.

Eh. I have a photographic memory.

Really no use in a second read unless it’s a classic.

@fridjonk I know. Photographic memory  also means you can build a pictographic meta mind that meditates on vast swaths of knowledge.

Memory goes pretty deep, as far as I’ve studied. I’d suggest to do a deep dive into it :P

So you are implying that you learned that skill? That sounds really interesting! Was that hard to learn?

@universe I cannot say much about it. Certain people can develop it. Certain people cannot.

Memory is such a tricky thing lol.

I really cannot day anything much about it because my thoughts on it are half-baked.

But yes, you can develop it. You just have to start to switch your mind to think in photography, videos, and files.

If you can do that you can start to develop a P.M.

Allright sure, I just start thinking like that. What else did you do to develop this P.M?

@universe I once remembered 200 pi numbers in a couple of days by using a "memory-palace". It really trained the vivid images in my mind, it may help to develop a strong photographic memory. o.O

Can you bake a few thoughts and explain some more? Sounds amazing. Thanks.

@Thewritersunion

Does your photographic memory work in a way that you can bring the page back to your visual eyes and re-read it, or can you just conjure up what you need to re-member at the moment and then trace the source to the page in your photographic memory?

Photographic memory sounds very useful. Any tips on how to start developing it? Should I stop thinking what I've read aloud and just think of the things as text on a page? I would definitely give it a shot
