Using psychedelics for science

5 posts in this topic

Hi all, I am a scientist training specifically to become a professional geologist. I love geology, because I believe the Earth is a dynamic engine full of awe and excitement; a home, whose beauty and splendor we take for granted.

For context, I have been meditating daily for one month and I have taken psychedelics four times (3 LSD and 1 psilocybin). I am basically trying to increase my consciousness to become the best scientist I can be.

With that said, I see the potential in using psychedelics as tools for improving/enhancing science at different levels. What I would like to know from anybody reading this, is what do you think? Are there others reading who share my pursuit? Do any of you experienced psychonauts have advice? This post was inspired by Leo's recent video, How Psychedelic Work (1:43:34). Cheers!

This is exactly my life purpose.

My life purpose is to mathematically map altered states of consciousness. This could be models, concepts, integrations, etc. Lets keep in touch so that we can work together in the future!

@WonderSeeker I practice as a scientist of biology and have found psychedelics helpful at lowish doses around 15-50ug. It’s awesome for creativity, integration, connecting dots and big picture - stage yellow stuff. Its not so good at focused analysis of detailed data, ime.

And Kary Mullis conceived of the revolutionary technique of PCR while tripping. He also conceived of being abducted by aliens, so it goes both ways.

For years, people in Silicon valley have been microdosing for performance enhancing creativity. Its only a matter of time until scientists do as well. Yet scientists will lag behind because most consider psychedelics to be “hallucinations” and not real.

@Serotoninluv

Im in a startup which has a product that has an AI component which compassionately cares for patients as part of a larger product.

I had a trip on HWBR ages ago where I felt energies of objects, basically what they feel in tantra. You also feel those energies in pictures.

I developed a propietary set of computer AI algorithms and mathematical models for describing these energies of objects.

Now the AI understands the energies of objects and humans, and uses that energy to figure out the mood of people. Its sort of a mathematical model for EQ.

Thats an example of using psychedelics for detailed stuff.

Ahhh i see the way you're using it is like a nootropic. Thats not how I would use it. I would use it for 'taking back' insights and translating those insights into mathematical theorems.

From that angle, taking large doses is useful.

Awesome to see different ways to use the same tool!

@electroBeam , excellent! Your work sounds very exciting! How would you like to keep in touch?

@Serotoninluv , thank you for your wisdom. I definitely see it as Stage Yellow, especially since truly grasping "being" cognition in my last 2 psychedelic experiences. Just another thought (and I'm sure others have raised this idea on the forum before), but I would love to see us all one day pool resources and create a Stage Yellow University. It would be a huge step forward.
