Confusing Rationality

4 posts in this topic

I see a lot of confusion with spiritual seekers on the forum.

A lot of people are totally dismissing or ignoring rationality, which is pre-rational

Rationality is important for preventing beliefs which aren't grounded in reality.

For example rationality includes understanding maths, science, history etc.

A lot of people just want to dismiss the laws of physics, biology etc, which are irrefutable.

Trans-rationality is to become aware of the limitations of rational.

For example there is no rational explanation for existence. Existence is a phenomenon.

To go beyond rationality you explore reality through spirituality.

The problem is not having that foundation of rationality before entering spiritual work.

It will lead to delusions, hallucinations and fantasy.

I see a lot of confusion with intellectuals who aren't smart enough to realize they are really spiritual seekers, and end up over depending on their intellect to the detriment of their own well being.

Is it? IMO just don't form beliefs. What do you need beliefs for? I don't need a belief to walk along the street, tie my shoelaces or have fun. I just get on with it.

Yes. So what? Nobody needs to know about math, science and history unless they are interested in those subjects. But none of them can explain the deeper needs of the human heart.

Do they? I personally don't care about these things, so I have no need to accept or dismiss them. I'm not a philosopher nor am I interested in educating my mind with an excess of things it doesn't need and sometimes hinders me from seeing more accurately what's going on around me. I prefer to see through my own eyes rather than an education.

I don't have to explore anything.

Will it? Do you have any examples?
