Enlightenment debates

9 posts in this topic

If you're looking for enlightenment then what's the point in debating people or trying to school them? Isn't that kind of behaviour getting in the way? Isn't the path to enlightenment letting the mind slow down and just trying to be with direct experience as much as possible? I don't see how there is much to say about anything in that state. That's why for me it feels very authentic. Soon after I have to start interacting with another I lose that sense of well being and I'm feeling lost again in knowing

What are your thoughts about debates? Is it helpful or do you find talking a distraction to direct experience?

You're right - these types of things in my opinion are a distraction from doing the work.   (Resting in Being).  One always can benefit from a healthy balance of teaching though.  A base conceptual framework is good but must ultimately be transcended.   A map can be helpful unless the map becomes so large that one confuses the map with the territory and forever stays lost in the map.

That's the constant balancing act.  This forum can be helpful but can also turn into a distraction.  At some point it needs to be transcended.

Wisdom.  Truth.  Love.

Debates are only done ignorant minds.

Ignorants love to spin their wheels in their ignorance. Ignorance likes to strut around and posture like a cock. That's what debate is. It has nothing to do with genuine truth-seeking.

@BETGR164128 Debating is a poor way to convince people. You have to prove it to people.

Best way to spread the word is to find something you're passionate about, hobby etc. Then use enlightenment work to master said subject. Then when people are like omg you are so good how you do it, boom you drop the truth.

There's only one inarguable,non-debatable,undeniable,ultimate truth that is eternally true. Any other so called truth is relative and, not That. If ultimate truth has dawned, no argument or debate can truly be had about it. It is the great Silencer and thus, why anything ultimately said about it will always miss the mark. The paths and ways or non-ways, in which one can possibly have that realization can vary among different cultures and individuals, but that which is realized is non-debatable.

@Leo Gura Leo, do you think that those who need to be right attract each other and find each other as they both think they are right so because everyone is them they attract that back and get a life of people trying to tell them they are wrong, and vica versa? Like the law of attraction?

Ignorant people love to congregate together so they can reinforce each others ignorance.
