Understanding the mastering of a new skill. What exactly should I do?

4 posts in this topic

Hello!

I quote from @Leo Gura's blog post:

"BTW, my skill set is articulating understanding. Not to brag, but I'm really, really good at it. Which is why you watch my videos. How did I get so good? I practiced it in my mind for 20+ years. Why did I do that? Because I love it."

I got into personal development because of a midlife crisis. I was unhappy with myself and I became really depressed. Then I found Leo's videos on YouTube. He convinced me to follow him through the way he was talking. I truly valued the way he was articulating his thoughts. That was the primary quality I admired in Leo.

Being articulate is a powerful skill that I love. I wanna have it.

What is the process of developing such a skill? Should I read more books? Studying? Writing?

Jordan Peterson said that writing is the foundation of becoming a better spokesman.

I would like some advice regarding this topic and what steps are important to develop this skill.

Understanding is the key. Not only at the surface level but deeper or as Leo says "going meta". I think that once you fully grasp a concept or idea at different levels and from various perspectives then it becomes easier for you to express complexity.

Practice, practice, practice. But you need to have a childlike wonder and love for the thing. You have most traction when in flow.
