5 Day Water Fast Experiment

5 posts in this topic

I decided to do this fast when I started a 20/4 intermittent fasting a couple of days ago. I've always wanted to try a water fast for 5 days, mainly for meditation purposes and detoxing the body. I'll document each day here in this journal and you're welcome to follow along; maybe this will give you some motivation to give it a try. I'd note that this is not advisable for everybody to try as it can be dangerous if you have any type of disease or health problems. I'm in 100% health and have no issues that run in my family such as diabetes, heart diseases, etc.

Day: 1

As I'm writing this day 1 occurred yesterday. It was very easy as I had been doing the 20/4 fasting days before. I noticed how much energy I had throughout the whole day. Meditation was a bit tough, my stomach was growling a little but not so much that it disturbed my meditation.

I'm making sure to get at least 3 liters of water each day.

Day: 2

50 hours in. Today was a tough one; loads of craving for food. But what was notable is that I was not hungry at all, but rather had a psychological craving for food. Energy levels are notably down, I've not done much today other than watch content on youtube. I tried reading but could by no means focus on the task. So I went on to watch an hour of mukbang videosxD. I'm not proud of it, but it definitely released some of the cravings I was experiencing.

It will be interesting to see how my upcoming meditation session will be. Whether I'll be able to focus or not, I'm not certain, but awareness has definitely gone up.

By far the toughest thing about today was the smell of burritos and ground beef in my kitchen, and the variety of ice-creme for dessert, the urge to quit became insanely strong. This challenge is a lot tougher when you don't live by yourself. Luckily I managed to pull myself together:D

Day: 3

Today was definitely easier than the last two days, but I'm still extremely weak and low on energy. It could be due to the fact that we don't get a lot of sun in Iceland so vitamin-D deficiency is my closes guess.

I've not been able to read or meditate for that matter due to lack of focus. I can feel the detoxing effects tho, but they are not close to a solid LSD trip or a Mushroom trip. I'm even having kind of a hard time reporting my days here.

The hunger has long faded and my psychological cravings too. So I've decided to shorten this experiment to 4 days. Tomorrow at 8 PM I'll finally break fast and start consuming food very lightly. The detoxing has been a nice bonus, this didn't help very much with meditation and focus. I'll just stick to psychedelics. ;)

Day: 4

I've decided to cut the fast just 7 hours from full 4 days due to almost completely fainting just 30 min ago. I went to take a piss, on my way out of the bathroom my vision went completely white. I managed to go into my bedroom to lie down quickly, drank some water and ate a banana. It felt like I had taken 5-MeO for a minute or two. There was nothing but pure light.

My physical body could not handle it though as I got instant cold sweats and felt like I had 107* fever.

I will continue with my 20/4 fasting window from now on, or even one meal a day.

:)
