Process in Self-Actualization?

I know every path is different to self-actualization, but for a beginner and someone learning more about awakening, would anyone recommend a process? If you could 'do it over again' , what process would you take? I know self-development is constant in this process, but in terms of deconstructing/the chopping block of beliefs, shadow work, etc could I jump into awakening faster...? Is meditating the 'holy grail' for awakening?

I'd say meditation is crucial. You want to get to a point where you clearly notice that the thoughts in your head are not who you are.

Self-observation, not only in meditation. If you meditate for 30 minutes and then go back to a life of unconsciousness it will not be the same as if you bring that awareness to everyday life. Find out what you are not first, observe yourself with curiosity. See your beliefs at work, observe, observe, observe.

I think this would be a good start. And remember, it's always Now, drop any ideas of awakening in the future. In fact, drop all ideas altogether :)

        This means that you accept yourself whether you have external success or not, in all situations, internal and external

Detachment

           Detachment means detaching yourself from

               All experience

                 All thoughts

                  All emotions

                All actions

 

 

Being

        The capacity to simply Be versus doing or having

 

 

Developing the capacity for observation

          Watch out for all of your self deceptive mental tendencies and your self biases, the self agenda

 

               A sub-component of observation is developing mindfulness

 

Undermining selfish impulsesRestrict yourself and all of your lower consciousness tendencies and desires

           Ultimately purging and weeding those out

 

 

Honesty

 

Surrendering control and giving up manipulation

 

Facing hard truths

 

Identifying fear barriers and your characteristic defense mechanisms and letting them go 

 

Raising the quality of your motivations and desires

                 Change the way you motivate yourself to a positive motivation and desire high consciousness stuff

 

 

Becoming a creator

            Finding and living your life purpose

 

 

Reconciling evil, suffering and ignorance

                Understand what evil, ignorance and suffering really is

 

                  Once you see those things deeply within yourself, you are not going to criticize anybody again

 

Pursuing big picture understanding

 

Transitioning from the left brain to the right brain

 

Creating a satvic lifestyle

          Satvic means living a sober sort of lifestyle

 

            Become addiction free

 

 

Undoing social conditioning

           Overcome childhood programming

 

           Question social conditioning a lot

 

Non-manipulative relating

 

                  Become very honest with yourself about how much you manipulate other people in your relationships

 

                 Recognize how you are relating in a manipulative manner

 

Becoming strategic, decisive, proactive and visionary

 

A deep recognition that this growth takes serious work

 

Build your infrastructure for self actualization

              Set the right environment for you

 

              So you have the resources and things that will enable you rather than hinder you to accomplish all the components here

@cotton-candy007 I’d first get understanding of the relationship between thought & feeling. Could save you decades. Without a proper frame of reference, what can be realized in an hr, could other wise never be realized in a lifetime. The “problem” or challenge of this, is we have a current thought / feeling paradigm, which is not working at full capacity, and doesn’t feel good...but one does not have that frame of reference, because it is the only paradigm they know.
