Trying to re-catch the intuition about consciousness I had when I was a kid

Yesterday I remembered that when I was kid, maybe when I had 6-7 years old, and I didn't have a clue (obviously) about anything about spirituality or consciousness, I had a sort of intuition for consciousness.

The intuition I am referring is that when I used to think about Death, I remember not being able to imagine how death could be possible. I used to had this sort of intuition that no matter how much I would be dead, this "Thing" that was alive (I think I was referring to the Self that is aware) couldn't be possible to this to die. That always must be "alive" and I couldn't imagine how this "Thing" that was alive in my experience could not be alive always. I couldn't imagine how it wou Of course by that time I was not referring to my physical body, I think I was referring to Awareness itself! 

I have totally lost it by now. Now of course if I think about death, I might get scared. Even though I've had some experiences of the Self / Awareness, I recall to memory + belief to "ground me" in that the Self / Awareness will never die. It has a taste of belief, not intuitive, relaxed, truth like the one I had when I was a child. When I was child even if I could try to imagine being dead I couldn't haha. 

Anybody remembers having this "intuition" when they were a child? Do you guys have an idea how to try to "invoke" this feeling? I imagine that this totally got lost with years and years of materialistic brainwashing + attachment to beliefs and ego, but oh men, this work is getting more interesting each day. I guess we see little kids and we think they are dumb but maybe they know more about life than the majority of adults do ?

You have to work through the beliefs, which involves cycles of meditation, learning and making connections, focus on new experiences, possibilities that feel good, and close examination and rewriting of the beliefs behind your suffering. 

Or more simply, when you were a kid you had a lot of time to think, play and be. Recreate that. 

It's never going to be like you were when you were a child because you've developed your abilities and intellect. When you clear the way of the false beliefs that got learned along with those things, it's better than ever. That's true maturity.

@Javfly33 that's an awesome story. Not all children are existential like that and possibly you were marked for this work ? mine was more of this strange loop thing were I really took time to wonder if this (my life) was happening in someone's eye or mind, and for some reason I would imagine Tom and Jerry, the cartoon, and imagine that as I'm watching the cartoon, my existence was appearing inside Tom's big yellow eye. ?‍♂️ I dunno, something like that, I was a strange kid.
