Morning Routine

4 posts in this topic

Hey, I am seriously planning on setting up a morning routine habit.

Here's a little draft of how I'm planning it to look like:
1. wake up earlier than early
2. drink a glass of water
3. write down any dreams I had
4. exercise
5. shower + brush my teeth
6. eat a big healthy breakfast
7. meditate
8. read

Would love to hear your suggestions of anything important to add/remove from/to my list; whether or not I should re-order some items (like push meditation higher in the list); any tips from people that already have a morning routine.

Thank youuu <3

I have had good luck with meditation before eating, but it is really up to you. You could give it a short for first thing when you wake up too, but make sure you do something where your have to maintain posture, or it could be easy to fall back asleep.

That sounds really good. If they are all new habits though, then I would not really advise it because it is going to be harder to maintain. I would just try add in something extra on thing at a time and let it form a good habit. Waking up early is really powerful, but focusing in on mediation, exercise, and good eating will see big results. Then adding in stuff like reading and waking up at a good time. But it just depends on your self discipline too. Just in my experience making one thing solid at a time makes it really easy to have a lasting routine. However, I have no idea what you have already been doing or not.

Our morning routines look very similar! It looks like a good one to me.

I would advice on striving to meet your morning routine goals, but to not be perfectionistic about it. I would choose one, just one of those things to do consistently everyday, if all else fails. That way you can maintain a strong, consistent habit that you can feel proud of, even if you miss your other goals.

For me personally it's going on a run every morning. I make sure to make the run as enjoyable and easy as possible, by not pushing myself too hard, and looking forward to a delicious breakfast afterwards, and by making a motivational music play list to listen too, to cue me to get out the door. For years it aggravated me that I couldn't be a perfectionist about my morning routine, but I've learned to push myself just a little bit each morning, but not too push myself too hard. The hardest part is starting the routine, but as long as you do it consistently, and make it as enjoyable as possible, it's absolutely possible.

As for the order of your list, it seems pretty good to me, it can always be adjusted in the future.

Good luck! :)
