Some people use the word "Source" in the way others use "God"

Some people use the word "Source" in the way others use "God"

I have heard it in the black spiritual community (African American etc ) but I don't know if it's more particular to that community because heard others use it too but I've only noticed t in recent years

It has a much less religious connotation than "God".    I find the word "God" used in a pantheistic way

Quote

Pantheism is the belief that reality is identical with divinity, or that all-things compose an all-encompassing, transcendent god.Pantheist belief does not recognize a distinct personal god

I find it ironically seeming similar to atheism and likewise Spinoza was frequently called an "atheist" by contemporaries,

It's like if everything in the word was blue, there would be no concept of blue nor color so that the word "God" becomes a synonym for "everything" but just with a reverent tone to it

Anyway where did you first hear this spiritual term "source"   used with similar usage to the word "God" ?

@Serotoninluv I was going to say "after the direct experience". Wellspring is also a favorite. :an original and bountiful source

@cetus56 It’s super cool when a term first arises organically from the essence of direct experience  - and then afterwards noticing spiritual teachers using the term.

Path progression / understanding wise...infinity + ‘understanding’ superposition = everything is nothing, as nothing is everything, comes to mind.

God is the source of everything, so it really is the same word.

If instead of just  talking about everything

you talk about the source of  it

that means the source of everything is not everything

and God is not everything.

That is not a problem if God is the source of everything

but it doesn't add up if you also think God is everything (which you may or may not think)

If that is the case the word "source" would have no meaning in this context
