Wishing others well

9 posts in this topic

A mindfulness teacher told me that in 'Heart-meditations' (basically: wishing yourself well, wishing someone you like well, wishing someone you dislike well), your wish somehow 'reaches' the other person, even if they are entirely unaware of your doing it. It benefits them in a fuzzy voodoo kind of way.

What do you guys think about this? Stupid belief or something to it?

Great way to release judgement and realize Oneness. To “wrap your head around it”, YouTube quantum entanglement, general & special relativity, superposition, and the grand unified field. I recommend John Hagelin videos. All helpful to realize the actuality of dream (reality). Good luck ? (‘wishing you well’)

One of my co-workers is a chatterbox about her life (and often her problems in life). It can be annoying, especially when I have something "important" to do. Well, the other day she stops by my office and goes into chatterbox mode for about 10 minutes. There is no polite way to escape. I got annoyed. . .  and then a sense of wishing her well arose. It changed the energetics. I saw and felt her in a different way. I felt a sense of appreciation and compassion in the moment. This seemed to "reach" her even if she was entirely unaware what I was doing. There was no longer a "her" vs "me" dynamic. I'd say that there was benefit present in that moment.

The practice of Tonglen meditation was really helpful to me. I always felt like I was messing it up, but found out that the sense of the ownership between pain, forgiveness, love, me and the other is what it heals, not the other person.

Nice, in my new career role as clinical manager I'm getting interrupted a LOT, in-person and by phone. Since I'm still in training it's not too bad yet, but it will get worse, much worse.?

I'll try to remember your post. ❤

This is called Metta mediation and I made a recent thread on it.   After reading the text might want to look at the videos, this monk's particular take on it
