Various religious practices describe children as being more connected with God. Children are more loving than adults for the most part. Does this mean that we were born with nothing but divine love, but then as we grow and mature we take on habits that limit and muddle the waters, making self-love and our connection with God more difficult?

Children are closer to God in that their minds have not yet been filled with bullshit beliefs and ideologies.

Don't forget how selfish children and animals are. They are not angles nor do they behave consciously. They are blind survival machines.

I think children are really bad, uneducated and nasty for the most part. They do anything to get their ways. Most of them are spoiled and egotistical, especially in today's materialistic culture and with the media poisoning their minds. 

I tend to think of them as unpolished diamonds. As they grow, and if they're lucky, life may lead them on the path to higher states of love.

You create the appearance you’re in a world. The appearance is convincing. Convinced, you create an identity, for this you, in this world. The created identity, following suit, creates an idea of the you which is forgot, and call “it”, God. In this way, God creates itself...”God”.

Though you’ve never moved, or become anything, never actually done anything, ever. The appearance that you are, is very convincing. 

This is perpetuated by the notion there is something to know, and or that humans exist so God could know itself. 

You just wanted to experience a world, and togetherness. There is only Love. Things are not as they appear.

They may be more loving...they may have little to no fear...they may have less thought...they may have little to no egos...but that alone is not enlightenment.

No, we are not born enlightened because there is missing understanding.  Enlightenment involves a direct, intuitive understanding.  Children do not have this...this is why they fall for the illusions of the mind and suffer more as they grow up.

After enlightenment, suffering ceases to arise...and the illusion never causes confusion again.

If children are "blind survival machines," then why is it that they seem to have less fear than adults? They seem to care less about survival and focus more on play.

@laurel Maybe they don't know enough to be scared of the world when they're young. As we get older we see how many threats exist to our survival and it's difficult to cope.

Because adults fear for them. Adults handle most of the child's survival needs (if the adults are good), which affords the child the luxury of play and being.

Of course a child has less to fear because they don't know how dangerous the world is yet. In this case ignorance is bliss. But it cannot last.

Every one are born pure. 

A child being a child is not egoic. 

An animal being animal is not egoic. 

A human being being human is not egoic. 

What's egoic is when you try to be beyond what you are, and trying take more than what you need or are. That's ego.

Yes. Children are pure and awaken. They are buddha by nature but that awaken doesn't last longer, it will be taken because of survival. A person full commitment is to regain his buddha nature.

@laurel children haven't transcended the mind they are pre-mind and attached to their feelings. But their innocent playful curious ways to navigate through the world is something we adults sure can learn from.
