Love

So what is Love? Is it a legitimate feeling/emotion? Is it merely brain chemicals? Is it a function of the Ego? Are there many kinds of Love including "Love in the Oneness" or Enlightened Love?

Also, I have wondered if Love is something only worthy for the best things. I.E. If somebody is smart, you Love their intelligence. Or say somebody is good looking, do you admire their beauty? This line of thinking leads to the question of, is somebody not worthy of Love if they are dumb, suck at sports, or etc etc? Should we "hate" people if they don't have any redeeming qualities? The question here is, should Love be purely Objective?

Furthermore, do we actually Love those we hate? Because if one didn't care about another, then wouldn't one's reaction to something unworthy be indifference? So hating is a form of Love?

alot of the things you mentioned are "desirable" traits conditioned into your mind by society and family and all thats stuff, most of the time love as we know it normally is accompanied by a "what can you do for me" mentality that masquerades as love. im pretty convinced 99% of society (especially in the west) has no idea what "love" is. myself included.

the love thats the opposite of hate isnt LOVE its love... or ... prefer. I either prefer you or i dont prefer you for whatever reason, "youre smart , dumb, ugly, pretty, strong, like the same music as me, share the same beliefs, have the same hair, youre homeless, republican, 'MERICA!!!!!!! yadda yadda yadda.

i hope this helps :)

@Lha Bho This is Leo's definition of Love, taken from his recent video about morality, part 1. Answers most of your questions.

"When you become fully conscious, you break down the boundary between self and others, and literally what happens is that everything becomes you, everything becomes the self. and there is a complete and utter surrender of you to reality, the larger force of reality, or as someone may call it God, nature, reality, existence You basically surrender to this higher power and you act now compassionately towards everyone and everything, because you literally perceive the entire world as your body. It's a very radical thing. And more than that thing, you recognize that all of existence is basically a giant bowl of love, unconditional love. And what you do, you surrender your ego to such an extent that everything is unconditionally loved by you, especially all the good stuff, but even the evil, even the bad stuff, even stuff that looks ugly or looks vial, or looks immoral. You even start to love that, because you see it as unity. There are no divisions, it's one giant unity. So, surrender to that and approach all of reality with unconditional love".
