No Idea What To Do With My Life

9 posts in this topic

Hey guys,

I would like to share my thoughts with you. I always thought that the computer is a serious problem for me. And actually it is. I use it to entertain myself. I watch pornography on a regular basis. I browse a lot of nonsense and waste too much time like this. I stopped playing video games and watching tv shows. Even though I try to remove bad habits I still feel that the other habits get stronger because of it. It is like the emptiness that I create is filled with the other bad things automatically. I don't have proper hobbies. Going out for a walk is like an emergency exit for everything in my life. I don't care about my future and at the same time I am so horribly terrified of my inability to change myself.  I am 26 years old. I see people making careers and I compare myself to them and then I am sad. Feeling worthless sometimes. I don't even know what to write now. Maybe this is enough for a first impression of me.

Really hoping that there will be some answers to this topic.

@ProblemSolving Start with bringing your body in check. Work out and sweat every day. Once your body is healthy, your mind will follow...

I'm in a situation very similar to yours. To me it seems like you have many answers yourself. You've identified your bad habits. And many things you could do. Bad habits - Break them! No Hobbies - make some!

The emptiness does not fill with other bs automatically, you choose what fills it, so take responsibility for that choice.

There is no shortcut or someone coming to save you. The good news however is once you start taking action, you feel better almost instantly.

Thanks guys. I get it. I have to bring change into my life. Otherwise this will just be another vicious cycle.

Actually today morning I decided to run for nearly an hour. I took breaks whenever I needed to. I sweated a lot. I stretched my knees before to reduce the potential pain. Many years ago I planned on doing a marathon. I stopped someday because my knees were a big problem and my back didn't tolerate it. Now I will be back. Living a lifestyle that doesn't hurt my back too much. Doing exercises that strengthen my back. Using bandage for my knees to reduce problems. Thanks guys.

@ProblemSolving I'd recommend listening to Leo's videos on the root cause of addiction and removing "shoulds".

i agree with @David1 comments re exercise too. Perhaps a blend of cardio, weighs and yoga would be a dynamic blend for you. Starting with just one of the above - the one that draws you the most - is the perfect place to start :)

@Greer I am going serious now regarding this work out stuff. I go away from the computer and all the entertainment possibilities. In exchange I now focus on eating more stuff so that I have enough energy/proteins so that it all pays off. I see how great I feel when I go running for an hour. I will keep that in mind whenever I get the feeling that I might as well go back to my comfort zone.

Awesome @ProblemSolving . I find a big difference in my energy levels based on the type of "energy" I put in to my body so enjoy working out what types of foods really work for you and give you the right "ooomph" you need for your amazing runs you are now doing! Well dome ??

I hope in the close future, when you see people making careers, you will feel happiness instead. You will think for yourself: “So wonderful to see people living life well! Life can be hard, but these people managed to find their careers and passions!”

What makes you feel sad and not happy seeing these people succeed? What change do you have to make to feel happiness in these situations?

There’s an interesting mindset Leo talks about in the video Why Am I Depressed. I recommend you to watch and study the content in this video.

Maybe you need to work on finding your life purpose? There’s a lot of material on this website about finding your life purpose.

Good luck!
