Can you train the mind as you train the body?

10 posts in this topic

You workout the body by stressing the muscle and giving them the proper rest and nutrition.

Does the mind work as well?

What is the proper stress for the mind?  (studying, creating mental connections, doing some calculations or sudoku...)

What about meditation? Is it a stressing activity or a relieving one?

I think meditation is a relieving activity. Maybe longer hours can make it stressful.

Interesting question

@Preety_India  i agree , eventualy you get to the point in which meditation gets relieving, but gosh at the beginning even 5 mins of meditation can be so stressful if you dont know what you are doing :/

YES. Though the exercises need to be different for the mind and the body both:

"The body benefits from movement. The mind benefits from stillness."

Body vs. Mind is a duality. Both are one and the same.

Yes. Not just via meditation.

Use your brain for problem solving and chasing down fears. A bit of grattitude practise. There are lots of ways to work the mind like a muscle, and some of the best ways of working it also bleed over into the rest aspect as well.

Feed it with quality information.

Of course. Training is just another term for "conditioning" or "programming".

The human mind is "trained" since childhood. The mind's beliefs, interpretations, self construct are all "training".

A major component of spirituality, personal development and therapy is to un-train the mind and re-train it.
