Systems Thinking and helping People

1 post in this topic

What is your Perspective on this?

I learned that a System should regulate itself and we should not try to quickfix it. With this quickfix mentality we do more bad than good.

  • Example: War in Irac to stop Terrorism and to bring the holy Democracy lead to ... Chaos.

Acknowledging that I stop to do 'Interventions' in my personal life unless I really have to act... Especially with People and their Problems. Dude, how many hours I tried to teach a Type Blue/Orange Person about Stage Green (I did not knew the Model back then). Or tried to figured out a Type Red Person, who just can't grasp many things. How many hours I've wasted with a 'quickfix' for people, that costed mounths to repair, like People who want to change something. I'm like: Start to do Yoga; It's neat. Then they come back to complain how stupid this Indian sh*t was...  and never try something like this again -> I pushed them in the opposite direction.

Reversal: Sometimes there is someone who needs help and is willing to follow a little advice it (seldom). But it is likely that I would overdo it, push them to far.. In doubt I wouldn't give any advice any more. Most cases giving advice it is just a showcase of how smart we are... we want others to give us respect (at least I from time to time). It's distraction to not work on our own issues.

Conclusion: People can handle things for themself (i guess), so it is mostly counterproductive to intervene. I will stop doing it. You know, I'll give a hungry person something to eat... I mean it in this Actualizing-sense I know, not that revolutionary but so basic it can make or break your social life..

Greetings
