An-Nūr [24]?

An-Nūr ; or Light

♦( النور) Sūrat An-Nūr, chapter 24 from the Qurān. It has 64 verses.

Introduction to Sūrat An-Nūr

The environmental and social influences which most frequently wreck our moral ideals have to do with sex, and especially with its misuse, whether in the form of unregulated behaviour, of false charges or scandals, or breach of the refined conventions of personal or domestic privacy. Our complete conquest of all pitfalls in such matters enables us to rise to the higher regions of Light and of God-created Nature. This subject is continued in the next Sūra.

As the reprobation of false slanders about women (xxiv. 11-20) is connected with an incident that happened to Hadhrat 'Aisha (Muhammad's wife) in A.H. 5-6 that fixes the chronological place of this Madinah Sūra.

Summary

  • Sex offences should be punished, but the strictest evidence should be required, and false slanderers are also worthy of punishment. Light talk about women reprobated (xxiv. 1-26)
  • Privacy should be respected, and the utmost decorum should be observed in dress and manners (xxiv. 27-34)
  • Parable of Light and Darkness: order and obedience in Nature point to the religious duty of man (xxiv. 35-37)
  • Domestic manners and manners in public or collective life all contribute to the highest virtues, and are part of our spiritual duties leading up to Allah (xxiv. 58-64)

Gleams by Said Nūrsi

If Qualities Change Places, Their Natures Change

One quality... different places, one face. It is sometimes a demon, sometimes an angel, sometimes upright, sometimes wicked ; some examples are these :

?If an attribute which for the weak in the face of the strong is considered to be dignity, is found in the strong, it is pride and arrogance.

If an attribute which for the strong before the weak is considered to be humility, is found in the weak, it is abasement and hypocrisy.

?In his office, a person's authority's gravity is dignity, and his humility abasement. But in his house, his humility is modesty, and his gravity , arrogance.

?Tolerance in someone speaking on his own account is patriotism, and self sacrifice, a quality, a good deed.

But if the person is speaking on account of others , his tolerance is treachery, and self sacrifice, an attribute, a wicked act.

?In setting up the preliminaries reliance on God is laziness. But handing over to Him in the reaping the consequences is the reliance taught by the Shari'a.

?Contentment with one's lot in respect of the fruits of one's labour is praise-worthy contentment, and strengthens the desire to work.

But sufficing with existent goods is not desirable contentment, but lack of aspiration. There are numerous other examples.

The Qurān mentions absolute good works and taqwa. By its indefiniteness, it hints at the existence of degrees; it's conciseness is a detailed explanation; its silence, an expansive word.

♣Relativity in a nutshell. This is why you can only compare yourself to yourself. There is a universal values though. Only those with the highest perspective can make the best Judgement. Hence Allah.

Judgement is one thing, another is projection. There is no place for projection and assumption in my religion. A greater sin than killing is  slandering ; saying something which is not true about another.

I think you can translate it to "projection". That's what it is.

My definition of Enlightenment is the ability to have clear seeing and true judgement. The ability to differentiate between the right and the wrong. Given the context. Surely no one is able to do this except God. And those who are enlightened.

Imam Al-Ghazali's Wisdom?

Only discuss about God in two instances;

  1. When you have doubts
  2. When you wanna learn more in depth about Truth in case you'll have future doubts or to teach others who still have doubts.

My recent synchronicity :

? Buddha

? Candlelight

?Angel

I've also noticed some synchronicities between my guru and Leo's content. [October 27th]

⬆ this is like me a few years ago.

But anyway, my guru speak about a criterion. Of how you determine who's right & who's wrong. And the five perceptions..

Faith can't be faked. It's either you believe in Allah or you don't.

That's why it is a gift from Allah?

I got scared reading Allah's Words yesterday..

It was Friday. Having known many things, I certainly don't wanna be among these..

58:14

YUSUF ALI translation

Turnest thou not thy attention to those who turn (in friendship) to such as have the Wrath of Allah upon them? They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear to falsehood knowingly.

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL translation

Have you not considered those who make allies of a people with whom Allah has become angry? They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear to untruth while they know [they are lying].

15

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL

Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.

YUSUF ALI

Allah has prepared for them a severe Penalty: evil indeed are their deeds.

16

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL

They took their [false] oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allah, and for them is a humiliating punishment.

YUSUF ALI

They have made their oaths a screen (for their misdeeds): thus they obstruct (men) from the Path of Allah: therefore shall they have a humiliating Penalty.

17

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL

Never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allah at all. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally

YUSUF ALI

Of no profit whatever to them, against Allah, will be their riches nor their sons: they will be Companions of the Fire, to dwell therein (for aye)!

18

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL

On the Day Allah will resurrect them all, and they will swear to Him as they swear to you and think that they are [standing] on something. Unquestionably, it is they who are the liars.

YUSUF ALI

One day will Allah raise them all up (for Judgment): then will they swear to Him as they swear to you: And they think that they have something (to stand upon). No, indeed! they are but liars.

19

YUSUF ALI

The Evil One has got the better of them: so he has made them lose the remembrance of Allah. They are the Party of the Evil One. Truly, it is the Party of the Evil One that will perish!

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL

Satan has overcome them and made them forget the remembrance of Allah . Those are the party of Satan. Unquestionably, the party of Satan - they will be the losers.

20

YUSUF ALI

Those who resist Allah and His Messenger will be among those most humiliated.

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL

Indeed, the ones who oppose Allah and His Messenger - those will be among the most humbled.

21

YUSUF ALI

Allah has decreed: "It is I and My messengers who must prevail": For Allah is One full of strength, able to enforce His Will.

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL

Allah has written, "I will surely overcome, I and My messengers." Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
