How To Personally Transform Yourself - Become Your Best Self

I find that a lot of people - including myself - set these aspirations for the person that we want to become and very often fail to do so. And I believe part of the problem is that we tend to fix the behavior rather than the root cause that leads to it. This leads to maybe a change in behavior, but it does not really transform the "I" which is what I am interested in changing.

I have recently red the book called "pursuing consciousness" and in this book Peter Ralston states that in order for real transformation to occur within the self, one must find the real cause to why the self is as it currently is. 

But how does one really become aware of the root cause of a partucular behavior? 

That is what I really want to know.

In that video, he talks about doing the inner work, but he does not share how to do it practically. 

And how to do it practically is what I want him to share in the video I've suggested. That is why I asked the question of how to become aware of the root causes and thereby transform oneself.

@Christian Hey Christian, I personally believe that the answer to your quention lies in this book : The psychology of man's possible evolution.

The past month I have read this book like four times, and it is like Leo says : A must-read book, will change your life.

Yo Christain what helped me a little in understanding some of the roots of the problems is meditation in witch i retrospected all of my life from first things i can remember all the way till the present moment. It took me about two hours to do that but it was really interesting. If you whant to do this you need to be prepared to remember all of it even your fails,dissapointments and hardest moments but i belive that doing this may help you understanding at least few of root causes of some behaviours
