Balance Between Concentration And Mindfulness

3 posts in this topic

Been meditating for about two years. For some months ago I started to struggle a bit and I couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was. I started to get pressure in my forehead. Yesterday I read something about to much concentration prevents meditation. What I did was relaxing the mind and body more than I to focus something. It instantly worked. But now it is hard, it seems like my concentration is much higher developed than the mindfulness part. Does anyone know how to balance them and allow the flow?

Kind regards, Fritz.

You need to bring awareness to the thing you are focussing on, and the thing that is doing the focussing. Both these objects of awareness do not exist in a vacuum, even if they do seem to do so when the focussing has already begun. Both the object and the subject exist within awareness. You can't 'try' to become aware of these objects. You can only 'soften the lens' so that the whole picture can come into focus.

What practical things can I do to soften the lens?
