Introspection Questions

5 posts in this topic

Hey guys, today I am planning on doing an introspection session. This will be the first time I have done one and was wondering what type of questions should I be asking myself. I want to learn how my ego works and how it can take away from my peace of mind. Thanks guys, and any introspection tips or questions would be appreciated.

I would recommend doing this regularly.

1. Stand in front of a mirror (realx breath look in your eyes get acclimatized first some minutes) and then make one statement that realy represents you/ that realy is important to you (it might be a sentence that you normaly wouldn´t state publicly or smth you woldn´t say in a conversation with other people)

2. examples: i wanna know who i realy am / i am unhappy in my current life-situation/ i wish i had a spouse but i can´t approach/ i feel anadequat whenever X happens / i wish i would be Y / ... etc...

3. Ask Why! Then answer it honestly while looking in your face, just honest answer then ask WHY again ..and so on until you understand something , until you get that moment where you learn something new about you and your motivation, your deeper mechanisms! (in some cases you get to a cul-de-sac with asking "why"...when you notice that just stop and start with a new statement)

take everyday 10-15minutes, don´t pressure yourself , just be yourself and have fun :)

Ask yourself this.

Who am I when I can't use language, images, symbols or feelings to answer the question?

Ask yourself what your needs and expectations are in life. Your insecurities. What troubles you. What do you feel you can't live without. Then ask why you have these things, where they come from, how you can address them yourself. Reflect on your past, think about the now and consider the future. Questions will come up. Thoughts will come up. Anxieties, fear, worries, exitement. Notice and question the thoughts and feelings.

Sometimes the object of the exercise is to notice things about yourself like I just listed, but not to necessarily try to find answers to them yet. The first stage is noticing things. Then, as time goes on those things will lead to questions and maybe realisations.

A good way to help with introspection is to become more mindful. Become more aware of your thoughts and feelings throughout your daily life. As you do this you will naturally start to notice things and make realisations. Start to question your own thought processes and reactions to the world. Meditation is also a great way to get better at this.

The more you turn inward on your own mind and watch what goes on in there the more your introspection will become second nature to you. It needn't be a specific 'exercise'. It can become a continuous process.
