is iq flexible?

3 posts in this topic

The heart if taken care of and challenged does become more efficient, at a cellular level, cells that have the proper nutrition and are challenged (pushed to perform at their peek) also become more efficient.

muscles if challenged become more flexible and can do more.

why not the brain?

why is it that people like jordan peterson and many other neuroscientists claim that iq is set in stone.

Jordan claims he has an iq of 150 for example of course it would favour his ego if iq was set in stone because he would feel all special and warm about having a gift. (if infant he did have an iq 150)

There are huge advantages to having a higher iq.

Faster learning (of course)

faster thinking (quicker on your feet)

you could find solutions to problems in real life much quicker and in a much more complex manner.

viewing life at a higher resolution. having a higher iq is like the difference between watching a 480P video on youtube or 720P.your able to see details and a quantity of them simultaneously in life.

it takes innovation to a whole new level. a good example is (steve jobs)

It allows you to excel in your career much easier.

I don't know.

Maybe you could try downloading that dual-n-back game if you want?

Another tip. If there's something/(some activity) you're passionate about (e.g. Life purpose) and having a higher IQ would help, do the activity you're passionate about and perhaps the brain will follow.

The brain is flexible, so it can be trained for the different activities you care about. What that means about IQ I don't know. Supposing IQ metaphysically existed, I wouldn't be too surprised if it could improve.

Hark ye yet again — the little lower layer. All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event — in the living act, the undoubted deed — there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me. Sometimes I think there's naught beyond. But 'tis enough.

Yes. Just do a lot of intellectual activities and your IQ will follow. Pattern recognition abilities, which essentially is what an IQ test measures, can be trained. Also, scientists have known for a long time that the brain is very moldable. See neuroplasticity.

Also, there are HUGE benefits to being proficient at sensing and feeling. Don't neglect that.
