I am freaking out about my career life!

16 posts in this topic

Guys, I've been so down ever since, I got terminated from the placement internship for three reasons: 1. Somehow, I made my guiding teacher uncomfortable by somehow being awkward around her personal space and staring at her a number of times. 2. I took too long with helping her with on some tasks she had me do to assist her. 3. She had to modify a lot of directions for me during a number of situations were I didn't listen well enough.

Yet, she never told me about any of these issues in person. I heard it from the assistant director of the fieldwork placement operations who heard it from the principal of school who received word from my guiding teacher about the problems she had with me. The day before I found out about my placement site being cancelled, the last thing my guiding teacher said to me was that she would see me next week in a pleasant civil demeanor.
I never thought that I would ever be blindsided by my guiding teacher like this, let alone be dismissed from the placement site because I thought that I was doing well enough there. Also, it was only the first two weeks that I got to do this placement and out of the days of each week I had to be there, which were Mon.-Thursday, my guiding teacher was not there from Monday through Wednesday because there was no school on that Monday due to the Labor Day holiday and on Tuesday and Wednesday she had to do some training for art teaching.

I tried applying to part-time jobs in the meanwhile and so far I haven't heard back from most of them in over 2 weeks and I already got rejected from all 4 of the available jobs that I was most qualified for at a Hotel Resort.

I am 31 years old and turning 32 in a few months, and I've only worked for my dad part-time for many years and at a halloween store for a seasonal position a few years ago. Even thought the job market has been really job, I fear that I may never succeed in my life. I asked Leo before about whether or not I should try to become an entrepreneur and he said that I should definitely try, even if I utterly fail.

I also wanted to try acting and modeling, but never made the chance to even try it out.

I further can't help, but keep getting envious and down about other people out there on all kinds including Leo himself who are successful and productive and has almost a million Youtube subscribers and is under 35. I know that I shouldn't compare myself to others, but I can't stop being so envious of other people who are more accomplished than me.

I feel so much pain.

The pain you feel is all because you are still a slave to your ego. Whatever path you take, prioritize mastering your psychology along the way doing all the things Leo and others like him suggest. Get a daily routine going with good habits and share it here.

I would also suggest seeking a mentor that you like to help guide you along the way.

In terms of your job seeking, stay positive and stay the course. Don't take rejection personally. Find a meetup group in your area that can help support you. Your job is more likely to come from networking than simply throwing your resume out there.. but do both.

Good luck to you ♥️?

Age does not really matter for the "success". It will probably happen when you least expect it. But you have to be persistent.

What are your hobbies? What are you good at? What are you interested in?

Look at it this way, you have a mid-life crisis in your early 30s. That's amazing! Most people have these kinds of realizations in the early 50s when they have been invested too much into their career.

Let this be your new chapter in life. From what I read it is clear that you are lacking a clear life purpose and a mission for your life. But this can be found!! There are Life Coaches in most bigger cities around the world and lot of these guys can help you out. I worked with life coach for 3 months and it cleared a lot of mental obstructions for me. It is not cheap but can you really afford to ignore your calling for th rest of your life?

Secondly, if you can spend the money, I would HIGHLY suggest you buy Leo's Life Purpose Course. This was one of the best investments I've made in my life. It not only painted a clear picture of what I need to do with my life but also provided initial tools to start and helped me understand myself and my values.

Arm yourself with patience and good habits while you do this. Exercise, eat well, meditate, sleep enough and when you feel anxious to go out in nature and let it purify and ground you. take your shoes of and hug a tree if you have to :)

You are still a young man but you can't afford to wait any longer. The path WILL NOT uncover itself for you. You have to find it yourself.

“If you find yourself acting to impress others, or avoiding action out of fear of what they might think, you have left the path.” ― Epictetus

@Hardkill What I'm reading is, that you made progress by even attempting the placement job. This time, you got a lady who couldn't handle your peculiarities. That's partly her shortcoming.  If you can, apply again, try again.

The reasons why you could not continue you know from hearsay, but they sound plausible. You could take precautions next time, such as talking to the person you're working with upfront. You could say something like: 'I have Asperger's. I know I can be awkward. If I come too close into your personal space, please tell me right away, I can't pick up clues, but I'll withdraw if told. Sometimes I don't understand instruction when told the first time. I will do my best to ask for clarification, but I ask for patience. If you are uncomfortable with me for other reasons, please give me feedback, I'll listen. Thank you very much for your willingness to help me out.'

Rejection hurts, but it says equally as much, or even more, about the person doing the rejecting. You need to find a something that you're willing to do, and some people who are willing to accept you - could take a while, but it's not impossible. Create the best possible social conditions for you, but please don't give up on job search!

I am into fitness including weight training, running, martial arts, ocassionally taking some classes like an HIIT class, yoga class, pilates class, etc. I've also studied a lot on anatomy/physiology and nutrition. Furthermore, I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts. I like researching and studying various self-help and self-improvement subjects.

Yeah, I have an advisor specialist who has been telling me how to improve my communication with my next guiding teacher. However, I am still very worried that it may not be enough. In fact, I've feel like I can't trust people as well as used to after getting blindsided completely by my guiding teacher.

Also, I've already heard from several people that they applied to hundreds of jobs even when the job market has been reasonably good overall. It kinda haunts me almost everyday. How do you stay hopeful and confident about getting a job, especially the kind that you want?

Is there any possibility of you becoming a personal fitness coach? I'm pretty sure the qualification only takes a couple of months and isn't too expensive, after which you could work in most gyms. Health and fitness is a growing niche.

As I understand you're currently spending in order to do these hobbies. With coaching you could get paid to do them.

I've always thought about that, but I've heard stories from personal trainers I know who have struggled with succeeding as one. Maybe it's possible for me to succeed at it, but I really don't know if it's too impractical.

Okay, you are going to have to become aware of your own limiting beliefs as you go through this process. What you just said had little to no merit, yet you're allowing it to have significance.

You knew some people who tried it and weren't successful. Ok. Get to know the ones who are. Or at least, focus more on that potential rather than the failures out there. That's a choice.

The problem is that the only ones I could find who I know for sure became successful as entrepreneurs are those online who will be willing to work with you for an expensive fee. Do you know how to find any entrepreneurs in real life to make friends with?

Meditation is great for letting go, and awareness of our words and actions.

Yes and I have been doing meditation more consistently than I did before for almost a month now. However, I am not sure if I've even made any significant at all. Sometimes I feel temporary relief after meditation; however, during the rest of the day I don't think I really feel any different overall.

Ask people you do know if they know any entrepreneurs. If they do know someone you might want to talk with, ask them to introduce you, or ask for a contact. Ask your friend's friend, the entrepreneur, if they are willing to sit down with you for a coffee and tell you about their business. They may decline, but a lot of people are willing to help out somebody who's a beginner. They may not become your friends, but they might be willing to spend an hour with you.

Before you go talk to them, know what you want to achieve. Have specific questions prepared. If you know what you need to ask them, and can be hopeful about your prospects to succeed as a coach, there's a chance they'll have a pleasant time sharing their experience.

Btw., don't just gather experience from those who succeded, also talk to those who didn't and think about how to do better.

Meditation has no goal, no gains, it is only to let go.
