Talking to your spirit guides

Is there anyone here who's spoken to their spirit guides or received guidance from them? I would love to find out how those instances occurred or if you use any specific method to contact your guides. I've only been at the receiving end of indirect guidance through clairvoyants. Direct contact is something I aspire to.

I know Matt800 has written of his experiences in his thread on the Occult. Would be great to hear from others too.
