What is desire for truth, wanting to know the nature of reality?

Why do people want to know the truth, nature of reality? What is that desire? An emotion? A thought? Something more? Something divine?
- The desire to want to know the nature of reality or truth seems to be the same as pursuing joy because that knowing is enjoyable.
- Is it to feel superior? @Leo Gura
