Why do people cheat in relationships?

What do you guys think are the main reasons why people cheat? The rates of infidelity seem quite high and I'm wondering what is causing this.

@Austin Actualizing theyre incompatible and one doesnt feel like they can be honest. the other cant be "alone".

There is alot of cheating and lying we do to ourselves, even when we dont really do it on purpose.  If we do it to ourselves ofcourse we wll do it to others.

I feel like if you are unhappy and unfulfilled and something exciting shows up in your life you might jump on it even if it means betraying someone.

In the highest Absolute sense there is no cheating... we are all one being and no person belongs to anyone anyways... agreements may change...

But yea... in the relative sense its pretty ugly and hurtful.

cheating happens because there are sooooo many compatible people out there in the world and most of the time in many relationships there is always someone better out there than your current partner and so its a question of weather you bump into this person or not.

 

another reason is beucase relationships are full of selfishness a devilry. we use each other as toys to fulfil each others base needs and many times your partner may get complacent or fed up and stop giving you your base needs for things like love, sex etc. 

and also cheating happens because your love for someone is never permanent and sometimes your love will change from time to time and you can just fall in love with someone else without you intending to do so.
