Question about Jesus and Self-Bias

46 posts in this topic

@Angelite is there any fear in your direct experience. Or do you see astounding beauty all around You. Do you see life all around You? Do you see how smart and wise and good we are?

All these things are not separated from you. They all are You. You have nothing to do or to even understand to be them.

So this All encompassing Awareness thing That You are right NOW. Could That be God? Could it be Me?

OK. If Allah is Everything. So Allah is all Allah's Creations.

Or.

What are Allah's creations other then HERSELF.

@TrynaBeTurquoise But the deeper question is, why are you so obsessed with understanding the words of a 2000 year old man when you cannot even verify if his words were accurately written down?

You see the deeper problem here? Your approach is so hopelessly indirect.

God is sitting right here! Yet you turn to some 2000 year old book written by we know not who.

It is as though you are in the middle of having sex, you stop, and you ask your partner to watch some porn with you instead because you want to know what sex is.

The key to spirituality is directness. The enemy of spirituality is indirectness. Cut out all the middlemen. They cannot truly help you.

The problem with directness is you are then in a space of being told the direct (literal) answer by someone else (and there's LOTS of people telling us direct answers) and having to choose whether to believe them or not until you have had your own realisation, which may be years later.  Thing is, there's two Jesuses - the historical, actual person who we only have fragmentary data about; and the cosmic Christ who is the mythological creation of the church. This 'Christ' spoke in parables, stories that need interpreting by the reader, like the one in this thread. Therefore we can create and project our own understandings onto the story and give it different levels of meaning. Think of it like abstract art - what does it mean? Well, to a large extent it's up to you, the viewer. So we can regard Christianity (and other allegorical paths) as a training course in developing our intuition and love using stories and images. It's not everyone's cup of tea, nor mine - many people (including most churches) misinterpret it and take the Christ story literally - but for those who are suited for it, this can be a good path to Realisation.

Mind you, when you think about it, you can't be 100% direct by using language to express your realisation, the map is always a symbolic representation of the territory.

Nick.

Everything is connected, but connections are only necessary from a fragmented point of view. What's the connection between two waves? The whole deep ocean which they are made of in the first place!
