Could shamanic breathing be dangerous?

2 posts in this topic

I was concerned about this when I started the technique but couldn't find any research on it.

He talks about hyperventilation a couple minutes after 9 minutes

Does shamanic breathing cause hyperventilation?

Hyperventilation is short, shallow breaths that actually de-oxygenates you from my understanding.

The shamanic breathing is deep breaths into your diaphragm that will give you excess oxygen compared to normal breathing.

From a physiological standpoint its not dangerous in of itself, but there are other factors like your mental state to take into account. If you are a healthy individual with a healthy mind who practices meditation I wouldn’t worry too much.
