Intuition or Ego.

7 posts in this topic

For a long time I have been in this journey of truth and self. During my studies I discovered actualized.org at first it was very off putting with the certain language being used. However I decided to take it in as it seemed that I've exhausted a lot of things in seeking truth (science, philosophy, religion) and it was presenting a different approach to finding truth.

I am currently  a month in my journey fully accepting the paradigm shift and have had extremely sublime experiences during my "meditation" .

However I am having trouble distinguishing  intuition vs ego. During the conversations with myself as I observe my thoughts. A voice is telling me that it can show me the way and I just have to trust it...

Is this the ego? Attempting to defend itself....

Would be nice to get some assistance. Thanks in advance.

If it feels good, fluffy and warm it's ego. If you feel enormous resistance, you're going in the right way. Read some Jed mckenna. He gives a good breakdown of the mechanics of the ego and how it gets back in through the back door.

@JPaulo Notice that 'you' letting 'yourself' follow intuition is a 'you', doer, questioner, doubter.
You are an ego wondering whether something other than yourself (intuition) is an ego.

Following the path of greatest resistance like @Neorez suggests will 'break' you into something malleable, surrendering.
That does not make the ego disappear - it makes the ego transparent, adaptable, fluid, flowing. That is good, but be weary of taking up the mantle of a hard-ass. That is a part of why the ego seems transparent when it is broken open.

Is your intuition something that thoughts speak of, or did you actually find it in your direct experience?
That is a genuine question and I hope for sincere answer.

@tsuki Very true, I don't like this path though but it has some benefits at certain times. But I do think it is quite capable of killing the ego(when you do Jed's spiritual autolysis). Like everything, it depends on the individual to find their path. I found myself clinging to the magical stuff in spiritual teaching, trying to find objective meaning in symbols. Jed Mckenna showed me very clearly that my clinging is holding me back and that is was the ego who wanted them to be true. Especially the higher-self and the lower-self thing which I think @JPaulo  stands before now.

@Neorez Keep walking the walk and see for yourself. Maybe it is exactly what you need.

@tsuki Was thinking long and hard about this. I think it was something I thought about soon after my first day of meditating. It was trying to convince me that there's a way, a faster way.

Last night after I read your comment. I just observed  the voice and entertain the idea and was like "sure, show me the way"....I found it was just talking to itself. I began to observe it and the further I got away it became silent...after silence it came  back stronger and I  struggled to untangle as I felt that  I  began to identify with the thoughts which took me out of the moment.

But thank you both for the insight @Neorez
