We take good government for granted. However, it seems that some governments are regressing and good governance is an illusion.

I will take responsibility by accounting for bad governance in my plans. While good governance is possible, I cannot depend on something unreliable.

Don't take good governance for granted. While it's good to participate in politics, account for bad governance in your plans. You want contingency plans and damage minimization.

The trick is that it often motivates me toward distractions I would rather not think about.

It often makes you think about solutions to problems that you don't have or are not going to have in the near future.

Solutions looking for problems.
