Feeling into the heart during self-inquiry

4 posts in this topic

I read the book about self-inquiry from the booklist and if I'm being honest, I didn't take it very seriously. I remained a little bit skeptic  after finishing the book. (I know, I know...)

However, recently I've noticied that whenever I practise self-inquiry (placing my attention on the inner feeling of being "me"), I start to feel my 'heart' on the right side of my chest. As if the "I" thought came from there, literally. Mind you, it's not intentional, it automatically happens. According to the book this is good progress.

Have you experienced anything similar during self-inquiry?

Yes, experiencing similar sensations. It started by feeling my heart glow immensely, now I also start feeling it on the right side. But to be honest, I don't pay much attention to that. It might be good progress, but "automatically" could also mean "subconsciously deceiving" because I also read a lot about that. So whether this sensation is there or not, I don't read it as anything significant. And when it indeed is, that's nice of course. But as Ramaji himself said, some don't experience that sensation and just rest in the emptiness/awareness.

@nistake I'd say don't do anything about it. Rest as the Self. Even the sensation is only an object of experience. You can always rest back as that which knows that :)
