You could also think about leaving a legacy, this is what contemplation of death is supposed to feel like. 

Imagine what they wanted to achieve for their country or the overall state of affaris in the world. 

I am not denying that cemetries or futility can feel horrible, also I am not very well on terms of what I would call a legacy in my life, but this is what I use cemeteries for. 

Futility for me is so twisted that I know that I can fully let go when something is futile, imagine a solider having a near death experience while a bomb flies down and could kill millions, he hears the sound and it shatters right before him and it's a dud. 

Most report a near death experience, the death of millions is tragic I visted an old concentration camp once it was small. But this is pure horror.
