Thought is Never Now

34 posts in this topic

Some nice golden nuggets in there. Yet I think the title of the video is a bit misleading. Thoughts create an illusion of a story within a timeline. Yet, those thoughts are Now. Yet they also aren’t really a separate thing called thoughts because we would need a story for that as well.

Thank you for posting it. ?

Hehe, if thought isn't now, when is it exactly?

Thought is precisely now.

thought meets the now with the past/old, and so veils it.

thought is resistance, to the now.

I like the image of thought as a veil of Now, better than thoughts are never Now. ?

@Serotoninluv yes this is nice.

I never have and never will like the idea of a now.

Maybe because I spent a lot of time in the future ?

The present moment is an endless continuum.

Acknowledge, move on, acknowledge move on, acknowledge, move on, etc.

Yea, the problem with using the term “Now” is that it inherently includes a “not Now”. If there is no “not Now” , the term “Now” is no longer relevant or needed. The term is useful in a certain context, yet a deterrent in another context.

@Serotoninluv ahaha should we send your human into a mystical experience.

Have you ever experienced eternity ?

Not enlightened eternity, like actual eternity. It’s the trippiest trip you’ll ever experience

In the context of the linked video and this thread, no I have not.

Experience would suggest an experiencer within a timeline. The term “eternity” suggests “unchanging” which also involves a timeline. I think Rupert addresses this well.

As Rupert said in the video, words are a crude tool. I like how he spoke about other expressions such as dance and art as being a more refined tool of expression.

In another context, yes I have. Yet this is a different context than the video and thread.

I’ve changed my answer

thought is never now

and

thought is precisely now.

Which is more true depends on the position of ones journey. Overall it turns out thought is actually now lol

Lol

The past is a thought happening in the now. Nothing can actually be in the past or the future since everything happens now.

Check your experience. Notice all thoughts happen only in the now. Don't believe me. Check!

@Leo Gura What is you take of all possible possibilities both of past and future already have happened? is that true? meaning everything arises in the now and yet there is a larger design to all, including all permutations of what could be, does all this already exist and it has already happened?

Understood, but what i am saying is, soon as you "have" the thought you've left the now. Nowness is thoughtlessness, its true stillness. The Power of Now explains this best. Highly recommend it!

But Leo!

You already explained it in your how to become enlightened video.

Every thought has 2 aspects.

1) Its reality

2) its content/story/projection

The Reality of a thought is direct consciousness being right now.

The content of a thought is its projection which subsequently creates this story of time, space, causality, personhood instantaneously if it is believed.

@Preetom  but one must ask himself, it is not okay for humans to think as it is not truth.

What if god was himself the one thinking ? Was it truth or not ?
