@zer0 Since your exams are this week and you have no time to adjust you're going to have to brute force it

You'll also have to force yourself to get to bed early and make yourself sleepy, have a warm bath, and get super comfortable, dim the lighting in your room, don't do anything stimulating for the mind, and let your mind zone out, i'd recommend listening to relaxing ASMR videos, some of them will really help you to sleep the more relaxed you get!

@zer0 I'm a heavy sleeper. I would suggest getting an annoying alarm clock, or use an annoying ringtone. That's what gets me out of bed every morning.

@zer0 Put intense focus on waking up early. Yep have an annoying alarm clock on the other side of the room.

This week get someone to wake you up!

A good topic you started here, quite challenging,  at least for me because I struggled with it all my life and still do frankly.

The answer if very simple, all you need is momentum, just this easy. How you create this momentum? This is the hard part: through repetition. The more you do it, the best results you'll have.

Think at this: all successive people own their morning, every single day they woke up and do 3 things that push them forward in order to create better business, or healthy body or whatever you want.

So, you must own your morning, no matter what, wake up and own it.

If you wake up 7 days in a row, the 8 day you'll do it, will be easier and fun. Just that simple, don't forget to sleep as well, human body need from 7 to 9 hours of sleep per day in order to 'work' at full capacity.

Here is a trick I used at the begging:  during the day I put alarm and did one single thing immediately after that, I repeated 3 times a day in order to get that high result I was going for. So I started, I put alarm to ring in 5 min, sit down with my eyes closed and waiting to ring. After that, I get out of bed and immediately after that went to bath and brushed my teeths. Day after day, week after week when finally my subconstient mind got this nice habbit that helps me.

You must start own your morning in order yo own your day and get great results.

King regards,

Florian

@zer0 Put a cup/box of apple juice next to your bed.

Drink it the moment your alarm goes off.

It works like magic to wake you up.

Believe me, you can. ;)

Motivation will kick you out of bed. At least you should be motivated to learn and get good results.

And also:

• make sure you get enough sleep

• free your mind from distracting thoughts before you go to bed

• find an evening routine which helps you to fall asleep

You can't or you don't want to?

Get in to a sleeping routine. Go to bed earlier and set an alarm clock for the same time every day. When that alarm goes off, get up right away. No 'just another minute' or whinging and whining. Turn off the alarm, sit up, get out of bed, get a shower and get dressed. Have something to eat and drink. Make it a routine and a habit. Every day.

I've had years where I've had to get up around 5 or 6am, and get to work. I keep to the same routine much as I described above. I also don't give myself too much time to complete the routine. 30 minutes is enough from the alarm going off to getting out the door. That doesn't give enough time to sit around and feel tired or drowsy. And to be lazy. In fact it keeps me focussed and busy so I'm not even thinking about how tired I am. Do it for long enough and it gets easier.

Getting out of bed with a purpose in mind is what you need. Something to motivate you and think about rather than how sleepy you feel.

@zer0

Rule of thumb: never go to bed the same day you have to wake up (means you have to go to bed before midnight). In order to wake up early,  follow your body clocks, and the best time for bedding is 10:30-11:00 pm. Develop this habit and you will see the difference. It will be much easier to wake up early since you will be refreshed and restored. :)

Body has its own cycles and biorhythms, by following the simple rules, it will take you no effort to wake up the time you need.

Good luck with your exams.

I feel you, just completed mine and free for the summer. ^_^

Go to bed earlier - it's the key.

Also try rehears your waking up action. Like, literally, lay on your bed just before going to sleep, close your eyes, relax, imagine you're in a deep sleep and then imagine that it's morning and your alarm clock wakes you up. What do you do? Get up, go up to the alarm clock, switch it off, go to bathroom. And, literally, do this 10x times before falling asleep. In the morning you will remember what have you done the night before and it's going to be easier.

Hope it helps :)

*** BEST ROUTINE THAT I FOUND TO WORK FOR ME, HELPING ME TO CONSISTENTLY WAKE UP EVERY MORNING ***

1. Calculate when to go to bed and wake up so that you still get 8-9 hours of sleep. Example: Since I wake up at 4:30 my bed time is 8:30. But I'm not to hard on myself as in having to sleep at that time on the dot I just go by when I feel sleepy.

2. I make sure to just prepare for the next day 7:00 pm. The things I do is clean my room, wash dishes, and just think of things I got to do tomorrow.

3. At 7:30, I make sure to cut off all bright lights, not use any type of electronics, and I just read instead. You could do whatever though even meditating if you want or catching up on some paperwork.

4. I make sure that I have 2 water bottles next to my bed. I drink 3/4 of one water bottle to make it so that I feel like peeing in the morning, that way I could wake up early at the time I need to and also as a way of forcing me to get out of bed. But make sure you don't drink to much though and if you did drink too much and wake up at 1:30 am at night to go pee just drink more water.

5. I set one alarm and put it at a somewhat far distance that causes me have to get out of bed to turn it off.

This is pretty much it. Some other things you could do is practicing sleep habits. Ill put a link to a website that has 2 very helpful sleep habits you could do in order to improve your sleeping.

Cold water can stimulate the senses, the nerves causing you jolt out of bed. Stay away from the snugness of the blanket, it is a lie, don't trust that voice that tells you to stay in and be all snug and warm. Getting someone to help you will definitely work, an alarm clock that keeps buzzing even after you turn it off, better yet,

http://www.robotshop.com/ca/en/nanda-clocky-robotic-alarm-clock-chrome.html

These clocks annoyingly run away even if you turn them off, making annoying beeping noises causing you to chase after them or hear the annoying noises. You literally have to get up to turn it off, and it can even crawl under your bed.

You really need to get this part of life nailed down, as if you cannot wake up, how can you self-actualize?

I was trying to find an alarm on my phone to wake up to. I had 'The Power of Now' audiobook on it and decided to try it.

The audiobook starts with: 'You are here to enable the divine puropose of the universe to unfold. That is how important you are'.

Hehe, no more motivation problems in the morning....

@zer0 You only think that you can't wake up early because in all honesty it all comes down to laziness. It is so easy to stay in your warm bed and not get up straight away when the alarm goes off. You could be too comfortable, still tired, its too cold to get up - there are thousands of excuses you can use because you 'can't' get up early in the morning. Its all in the way you think.

I never used to be a morning person but once I am awake, I keep telling myself its time to get up and conquer the day and I wake up excited because I love my job and I am ready for any challenges that come my way.

Exams can be daunting but make the most of the time you have now, if that means getting up earlier - then get up earlier. Put your alarm clock far away so when it goes off you can still hear it but you have to get up to turn it off and when you get up - stay up.
