Why there can only be one God

I was watching a talk recently from a biblical creationist and someone in the audience asked a question. It went something like this: If God is outside the Universe, outside space, matter and time i.e outside of everything we know, how can we logically assume that there's only one God?

His response was rather brilliant, although he doesn't know how close he is to figuring out what God really is.

He said:

1: An infinite being lacks nothing

2: For two beings to differ, one must lack something the other has.

3: But a being that lacks something is not infinite

4: Therefore, there can only be one infinite being.

Even though this was coming from a Christian creationist trying to make his point about the Christian God, I couldn't help but smile how beautifully he summarized absolute infinity. I understand much better now, logically speaking that is, how there can only be One.

yes, most Christians... like Muslims and others think God to be up in the clouds and what not... but it's the same one God.. the One Infinite. The infinite

That is correct. Absolute Infinity cannot lack anything because it is total.

Totality can only be singular. You can't have two totalities otherwise they weren't totalities to begin with.

Or you could say that God is the totality of all sub-totalities.

I bet I could bring my brother around to this conclusion..... Just got to think where to start. He already believes in a god that encompasses all, but has no concept of oneness.

There can only be One God because there is no other. This is realized in Total Oneness, in total Aloneness as God. The only way to know God is by faith in Him, by becoming aware and conscious of him. By being aware of His presence. By being aware of His love for us. By becoming conscious that we are loved unconditionally and fully.

No. Because to have two beings one must have an end where the other begins. So, none of them would be infinite.

See video: Understanding Absolute Infinity - Part 2 wherein is discussed Georg Cantor's set theory, which explains how multiple infinities work.

There is an infinite number of different sizes of infinity. Which all adds up to one Absolute Infinity.

Amazingly numerical infinities have various sizes.

Watch the video, Understanding Absolute Infinity - Part 2, where the work of Georg Cantor is explained.

Absolute Infinity is not the same as a numerical infinity. Absolute Infinity doesn't have a size. It is simply reality itself.
