Keep at it. The monkey mind doesn't go away in a day. Even if you think, sit and be with thoughts and let them pass. There's nothing to struggle, there's nothing to do. Just sit and let reality happen.

@Danioover9000 Nothing happens until the mind is concentrated. I would start with concentration techniques. Insight meditation doesnt work until the mind is concentrated. Most people have never experienced a truly concentrated mind in their whole life.

Stare at a dot or candle for 20-30 minutes. Focus as intensely as you possible can and your ego will dissolve. Rest in that state. When you do, it starts permanently changing the brain little by little. People use this technique in the occult to train their mind because supernormal abilities correlate to ones ability to concentrate their mind.

If you do this and stay consistent, you will be glad you did :)

After a month, start adding in Vipassana techniques and you'll see a massive difference.

Perhaps try to mix in some kriya yoga. It can give the mind a sense it is doing something. I’ve found placing attention on very simple things like touching thumb to each finger tip to be help ground the mind at times.

You can try mindfulness and or different forms of meditation like do-nothing(letting go), focus meditation, visualization, the ways one can meditate is endless. You can even train yourself to be in a meditative state 24/7 which is usually makes the traditional act of meditation obsolete. You must find what works best for you. Meditation isn't always about sitting down, crossed legs and eyes closed. Anything that puts you in the complete present moment is technically meditation because there cannot be thinking involved when you are truly present and just being and living in the moment.

I like Yoga, Singing, Dancing, Freerunning, Swimming, Sun Gazing, Complete Darkness, Complete Silence, Candle Meditation, Qi-Gong/Tai Chi as more unorthodox ways of silencing the mind and being ONE with the NOW. If sitting down, eyes closed and doing nothing is not resonating with you, find what else does and you will naturally be lead to different ways you can be fully present more and more.

I don't always feel like sitting down and meditating either but i find what feels best and what is the highest, most passionate calling at that moment and i do that and then whatever it is i did, naturally relaxes my being in itself thus meditation becomes effortless.

Many times when i did not feel like meditating, i would do yoga, or dance or go for a run then when i come back i am in that state where i am actually drawn to sit down and meditate and because i have stimulated and activated my body thus when i sit down, i enter a deep state and i rest there for a while compared to beforehand where i would of been too restless to do so.

Some tips :)
