The school system will collapse with increased consciousness

89 posts in this topic

For the past two years, I’ve been teaching at schools, and one thing I know for sure is that the more conscious of a teacher you become, the more likely you are to get fired. Why? Simply put, most children don’t want to learn. They want to play. A conscious teacher will acknowledge that and allow them to play, whilst the usual teacher has to put a lot of effort into manipulating the children to do the work. The biggest hint that this is unconscious, is that it is always stressful. It’s never easy to try to make a kid ‘be good’, because deep down it’s fear based. Without fear, you would want for the children what they want for themselves which is to have fun. As a result, very little learning will occur, and all ‘productivity’ will drop. This is what I am experiencing. Says a lot about what will happen to the entire ‘education’ system in the future. This will be fun to watch.

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

Agree!

I have the experience of teaching to children and I always felt this burden on my shoulders. The system, with its all rules and lesson plans,  is far from understanding the children.

After trying to apply many approaches, I finally decided to work on children's independency, imagination and motivation. Although it worked pretty good, I finally quit my job because the struggle between what system wanted me to do and what children actually needed took too much energy...

There are a lot of unconscious people who would line up after your job, so it's ok to fire every conscious teacher.

I prefer unschooling which is legally allowed in texas.

Yeah, I was considering becoming a teacher a couple years ago because I thought I could do a better job, but decided against it, because I'd have to fight with the administration too much to make positive changes, and even then it would only be marginal.

everything will be collapsed after the expansion of consciousness and the current systems should give up their seats for more evolved systems

I know some good teachers, who can make almost anyone interested... But they usually don't let us play, they don't really show weaknesses, unless we've already become friends, it's like they are very strict, they make us disciplined, and then when they see that we've changed, they start to trust us. And also their lessons are really interesting, like it is obvious that they are smart and when someone makes a mistake, they try to find some truth to it. (like yellow thinking) Hope this helps for all the teacher wannabes here xD

There's a cool netflix series called merli about a new philosophy teacher and he pushes the high school students to start thinking for themselves. Quite a beautiful piece of work only it isn't in english.

Nobody really likes being forced to learn. and it's hard for most youngins to realize the benefits of self discipline.

Higher quality teaching is going to provoke curiosity and the will to learn. I still feel like with all our systems, changes will have to happen from within

What do you teach? :)

Maths, reading and language, although this phenomenon applies throughout the school and education system.

Strangely enough, I haven’t been fired yet. To actually fire someone is a huge decision,

And that’s another distraction, in my teaching experience. Some children just don’t want to learn. The end.

A conscious teacher would be available to students who want to learn, but he won’t impose his lessons on the children no matter how interesting it might seem. That’s why I never ‘lecture’ the students. I just sit in the front and tell them that if they have any questions, I will answer them. Otherwise they do their own thing. And I almost never get any questions.

Not in Florida. Teachers in their first three years of teacher can have their contract not renewed for "any reason and no reason." And even though, it's not technically firing, it's totally the same as firing.

When I was let go, they gave the reason of "didn't fit the culture of the school". I was 8.5 months pregnant when they called me in to tell me my contract wouldn't be renewed for the next year.

I'm glad though, at this point. It's really the impetus for starting my channel and getting on the path that I'm on right now career-wise, and that's a lot better.

I dont even know what that means, is that just supposed to mean they didnt like you and wanted to bundle it up in a more professional sounding way?

Crazy enough they called when you were 8.5 months, seems strange to add a lot of stress on you around childbirth which I've heard is stressful enough.  Glad it worked out for you though, and your channel is great, but I'm sure there are a lot of people who wouldnt ve able to get on their feet as well, which is concerning for them if this is happening

I really think that the assistant principal there had a personal vendetta against me. She basically tortured me for two or three month beforehand, having me overhaul my entire classroom management plan (behavior stuff). And it was not directly said, but it was quite clear that my job was on the line. And I worked so much overtime just to meet her expectations... and I did. I came through on every change she wanted me to make. But it was never really about that.

And I asked her when she was coming into observe me (around two weeks before she called me in to tell me about the contract non-renewal). And I said, "I'm 8 months pregnant. What happens decision-wise if I go into labor over the weekend before you can observe?" Then, she literally said with a serious tone but a smirk, "Don't go into labor over the weekend."

And I was absolutely devastated when I found out that my contract wouldn't be renewed. I tried so hard, but it didn't matter in the end. And I was so stressed out that I was unable to eat properly for days and was losing weight. I was afraid for my baby because I was having such a bad time emotionally, like to the point of shaking and crying.

I had teachers that heard about that through the grapevine, come into my room very upset about the treatment I was getting. One lady teacher was literally in tears. It was bad.

I'm glad for how things have gone. But I still think that the AP's treatment of me was purely malicious.

I was always thinking of the reason why. I was 25 at the time and she was about 30 or 31. So, I thought that perhaps she is jealous because I'm pregnant and maybe she was unable to get pregnant or something like that, as she has no kids. Or perhaps she thought it was improper for someone of my age to be pregnant and have another kid already at home... as I became a mom at 22. My daughter was 3.5 at the time of my son's birth.

Or maybe she just was a sadist who saw someone in a vulnerable position, and got a lot of pleasure out of causing pain and stress to me.

@Emerald The world is full of opportunities and money, as long as you don’t have an idea about how it should look like.

What about trying Kindergarten Teacher instead? Where you don't have national tests and all learning through a chalk board?

Skepticism should always be balanced with appreciation.

Maybe you guys should look at the positives of the educational system and balance it out with your views on how it could be improved.

It would get destroyed, but the collective ego will never let it happen and therefore changes will be made in relatively small proportions. Thus it will never get destroyed in reality. It’s an infrastructure that is impossible to destroy.

Reminds me of the ridiculously bitchy teacher from Matilda, mrs. Trunchbull or something close.

Did it feel systematic at all or was it just this one lady who had it out for you?

Also sorry you had to deal with that, that's insane to me, I didnt know people even existed that would do stuff like that so thanks for the eye opener.  Hope you enjoy your new teaching job more, you certainly reach a lot more people than you would in a class room, so atleast there is that

Maybe you should put more of your creative energy into your lessons, so they are more interesting and that they seem meaningful to the students, if it doesn't seem meaningful, of course they won't have any questions. When I say that some teachers keep everyone interested, I mean everyone, the people who get C- and below as well. Trust me, I teach children and also adults and when I actually do some preparation (it isn't all that time consuming) the lesson is much better for everyone. I am not saying you shouldn't quit the job, but you can definitely do better. If you don't inspire them, show them meaning, and then you want them to start the initiative... Think of it as a relationship, relationships don't work like that. I think you can make any subject interesting if you understand it well enough :)

For sure. Luckily, at the time, I was listening to a lot of Law of Attraction stuff from Teal Swan. And I was able to redefine the narrative in a more empowering way. And it's ultimately what's lead me to create my channel and have a career that gives more of the impact I want to have doing what I do best. So, it's a stroke of good luck in the end. But I'm not gonna lie, I think that lady was a ______.

Exactly. See the reply above. I'm over 4 years out from that situation and it's much better now, beyond what I could have imagined.

She wasn't like Mrs. Trunchbull.

She was much more like academic, high-acheiving, judgy, attractive young business lady boss who's very assertive and Type A and thinks she knows everything. I'm trying to think of a character like that. It's like if Hermione Granger grew up and kept her high-acheiving nature but lost her heart.

Mind you, administrators are USUALLY required to teach in a classroom for at least three years before becoming an administrator. But she was in VIRTUAL school for about 6 months teaching, but her boyfriend was able to open some doors for her to climb a bit higher, earlier. None-the-less, she loved telling teachers what they were doing right and wrong, even if said teacher had had 30 years of experience in the profession.

So, that's the best impression that I can give you of her.

But as for the question about the systematic thing, I think it was actually very pointed toward me. But I think it does, in a sense, have to do with my personality type. I've noticed a lot of leadership types really dislike me, and it's always been that way even when I was a small child. I think I read to them as just incredibly strange and crazy.

I was actually really surprised about this myself. I had never been targeted out like that before. I've gotten vibes like that, but it never went beyond vibes. So, I actually genuinely thought that if I changed the things she wanted me to change that she'd be taking that into consideration. But she's already made up her mind. Maybe she was actually going to fire me on the spot if I failed to change the things she wanted me to change. Either way, by the end, it was really clear that she had all the power in the situation and I had no recourse to fight back. So, I will never work for anyone other than myself ever again.
