How to be wise

An oscillation between meditation and self inquiry

6 posts in this topic

Over the past few months that I was doing The Work of Byron Katie, I noticed that sometimes I felt like meditating on the question, and other times to actually do self inquiry and answer the questions.

So for example, after three months of doing self inquiry, I would be pulled towards not answering the question, but to just ‘sit in’ the question.

And after two months, I would be pushed back towards answering the questions.

Does this happen to you guys? Is this known? Or is it only unique to me?

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

Seems like you're learning to tap into the big mind. Keep going.

@tsuki I’m more interested in the oscillation. I’ve never heard anybody else mentioning this.

@How to be wise I'm not familiar with Byron's work but a quick question...with your self inquiry have you become conscious that you are awareness itself yet?  I mean if you are still doing self inquiry then the answer is probably not..at least not becoming actually conscious of it - though you may know conceptually - there is a big difference.

And if not do you know what you currently identify yourself as?

@How to be wise There are no personal-level explanations for intuitive processes.
You oscillate because it is required from you to answer your questions.

@Inliytened1 Yes. I have had an experience of it. I’m semi-aware of it even now.
