Your ego has a subconscious mind..sure..but what is the ego really? :)

No different than asking if your coffee table exists.  Its all part of the content of this dream we are in.  From within the context of the dream they exist.

The subconscious mind is a useful distinction that was created by Freud to help one relate to their own experience differently and more effectively in order to create a deeper awareness of one’s self. However not existentially true.

Something does not need to be existentially real in order to be useful.

Other examples of such inventions would be:

  • Mind
  • Self
  • Language
  • Morality
  • Social contracts
  • Gravity
  • Thought
  • All distinctions

All of these things were arbitrarily created. Useful. Yet still arbitrary inventions to help one relate to their experience more effectively for the sake of survival.

No, only from the dormant mind perspective of reallty there are such things.

Conquering the so called subconscious mind is Enlightenment, at the highest level.

Of course, with mindfulness and meditation subconscious mechanisms can very much be brought to light and seen through direct experience. Just know that it does not speak in words. You can also see the effects of your subconscious every day, for example when you struggle with your guitar picking one day and you wake up the next day finding that it has suddenly become a lot easier. That's the subconscious mind in action.

@kieranperez So the map, not the territory?

@Commodent isnt it better to say "the thoughts and emotions you're not aware of" rather than "subconcsious mind"?

Because that seems like a part of the mind that is seperate from conscsious mind.

@Pouya It's really the same thing yes.  Its thoughts you aren't aware of..which is what subconscious mind means.  It is a distinct part of the mind, yes..but at the same its still all one mind.  Just like the finger is distinct but still at the same time the whole hand.

@Pouya yes and no. What’s important is how you relate to what you call “maps”. Become conscious of what a “map” is.

In the end though, no, there is no subconscious mind. Mind, language, any distinction are not fundamentally real in it of itself. The distinctions are things we, you, I create. These distinctions have been created to be able to relate to our own experience in a more useful way. Nothing wrong with usefulness. Concepts are useful in practice when utilized with that right understanding and relationship to them. However that doesn’t make a concept fundamentally real.

Some good things to really contemplate:

  • What is experience?
  • What is my present experience?
  • What is mind?
  • What is the difference between real and unreal?
  • What is the sameness between real and unreal?
  • What is a distinction?
  • What is existence?

@Pouya  The subconscious mind is intangible and incredibly, incredibly vast. I guess you could call it that, but I feel like the subconscious operates on a very different level than the thoughts and feelings you're typically aware of. You can sense it is there, you can sense its power, but you can't really distinguish its content because there's so much going on at the same time. In that respect it is very different from the conscious mind.

Everything we say or talk, any division we do is for us to understand better reality, but there's not a subconscious mind.

Anyway it is useful for us to have an understanding, the ego needs some logic to ground itself to reality.

Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?

Actual vs conceptual is a duality.

Mind vs not-mind is a duality.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.
