Counting conscious breaths

Instead of just being aware of your breath, also counting each breath your conscious of. With say, a goal of 200 conscious breaths per meditation session, one could also measure the process of becoming more conscious (ratio of conscious breaths per hour).
I feel like with having such a goal in the back of the mind, that I am getting myself back into being conscious way quicker after getting distracted in meditations. However, I would like to know if you see any flaws with this method. E.g. having a goal.
