Are animals conscious that they're conscious?

Is being conscious of itself a fundamental property of consciousness? If so, are animals conscious of themselves / conscious that they exist? What about bacteria? What about that rock over there?

@FredFred First become conscious of what you are. Then you will know the status of others.

The questions you ask cannot be understood by you until you have at least a few awakenings.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

No, they don't have an ego to transcend.

They're conscious but they're not conscious that they are conscious.

Everything is made of consciousness.  But not everything is self conscious and yet even less are conscious that they are self conscious.

Rocks are not self conscious.

It's not much different than your ideas of things now - but it's not happening inside a brain and there is no objective world out there.

There is only consciousness, and everything is contained within.
